    M105 Camper

Updated pics are here - http://www.steelsoldiers.com/vehicles-sale/96235-m105-camper-conversion-sale.html Taking it to the SOCAL Dez Rally and then selling her. Selling both M105s actually. I have a theory that with both trailers gone my driveway will have enough room for a 5 ton.

    M105 Camper

I do need to update this thread with better pics. The kids loved it at Dirtbag last time out. The beds are plenty sturdy.

Top on and second mattress in place. Working on a divider curtain and some cabinets. Undecided if I will use the field desk at all. We might use the table top from a broken one as a table. I would hinge it to fold out of the way when not in use.

The mattress' are nearly 74 inches. I'll get more pics today if I get the other mattress in.

    M105 Camper

A little more progress. The inside is tan and the bottom bunk is in. It will look better with some tan sheets, but the kiddie stuff is fine for now. The other bunk goes on top of the 1st one even with the top of the cabinet. It will have wall to wall removable carpet and a curtain hung...

    M105 Camper

It stopped raining so we finished the bunk bed frames. They are 2 x 4 boxes bolted on three sides to the bed walls and sides. On the aft cross bar is nailed to the box and the attached through the sides with two three inch lag bolts on each end. It is very sturdy. My boy is about 150 and I'm...

    M105 Camper

I thought about raising the sides and sheeting in the gap but - 1. It seemed pretty ghetto 2. I would have had to drill a lot of holes in the stake pockets to pin the sides 3. Only 5 inches were left in the pocket So I ended up fabbing up some bow extentions and it looks like I have a trade...

    M105 Camper

Thanks for the pics. We finished the bow extentions and installed the bottom bunk frame. It's simply a 2 x 4 box bolted to the bed on the inside. Next I'll sheet it in with plywood. Seems pretty strong. The next one will be a 2 x 4 box bolted to the sides at the top rail and sheeted with...

    M105 Camper

Made nine more of the extentions and installed them. Only mods to make it work were replacing the bolts holding the top board to the sides and drilling a hole through the bows to attach it to the extention. I think wood will be fine in the application since it's only holding up the top and...

    M105 Camper

Probably, but with all the stuff crawling around in the dez I like being off the ground. I also like the near zero set up time and the fact it can hold a lot of beer coolers and spare parts. It also has a higher cool factor than a tent at Dirtbag. :driver:

    M105 Camper

Ok, thanks to Brentzilla I took it all back apart. Keeping the sides in the factory spot makes them the strongest, so I decided to raise the bows. Here is what I came up with in a couple minutes: (forgot to rotate pic - sorry)

    M105 Camper

I didn't know there were extended bows. I'm interested in the cover though. Phil had 36 inches taken out of his bobber cover, I need to see if that is enough material to extend this 105 cover 13 inches all the way around. If I drop the sides back down and make the bows taller that would make...

    M105 Camper

Nick - So far the only reason I wouldn't mod the cover is because I have two trailers but only one cover. Still, I could get another easy enough. They sides do seem flimsy, but then again so did the bed that donated the mattress'. I haven't firmed any plans up, but I think the sides will...

    M105 Camper

I cut 8 boards 12 1/2 inches long to go into the stake pockets. This leaves 5 inches for the sides to go in. Next I will pin them in place with 2 bolts each. The 1st bed will sit on brackets attached to the bed itself, even with the wheel well height. The 2nd bed wil attach to the sides...

    M105 Camper

Started some mods on my M105 to use it as a Dirtbag camper. I've been bringing my crewcab and pick up camper, but I have to get someone to drive it up for me. It hasn't been a problem yet, but it seems like overkill. The first thing we did was raise the sides 13 inches. Right now they are...
