    There are a couple of MEP004s on fleabay just north of me in Virginia. They look dirty but the listings indicate they run and make power. A little time to clean them up and go through them and you might have exactly what they need. They are under $2.5k each.

    I recommend selling the MEP804 and looking for a MEP004. Those are 12 wire heads and can be converted to single phase. That might be your low cost and low complexity option.

    What is the reason to try and shove this square peg into the round hole? Isn't it better to buy a single phase 15kw machine if that is what they need? Is it for sure they need 15kw in an emergency situation (assuming this is going to be used for emergency backup only)? I'm not being a smart...
