Adding two-stroke oil for lubricity - this study says NO.

I still think the most accurate information your going to get is from owners themselves. For example how did we all figure out that we should do the "dog head" relay mod? By collectively coming to the conclusion that this was a common problem, and coming up with a solution. So same can be said...

I don't know? I wouldn't call it noise, I'd call it real world data. After all no one drives their cars & trucks in a lab. For instance what's the average lifespan of a 6.2L CUCV, 200-400,000 miles? And what's the most common engine failure? We basically have 30 years of data to sort through, we...

Now that I agree with!:hammer: The only reliable data would be from us the consumers.

I have a big picture opinion on this whole thing, and goes like this..... Oil companies make (billions & billions) of dollars off feeding the worlds addiction to fossil fuel & oils:drool:. And therefore own all of us starting with politicians, All the car companies, plastics companies, power...

I speak from experience not conjecture, of course I use break in oils on any new engine. I assumed I didn't need to point that out in my earlier statement:shrugs:. The wiped cams happened after break in when modern synthetics were used and again I'm not the only one. After speaking with several...

Ahh yess, I broke them in properly:roll:, and Yes they were gas engines,(400 HP Ford 289) & (500HP Ford 351W). As to whether new oils can damage our diesel roller cam 6.2's, who knows:shrugs:. The point is the oil companies quietly changed their ingredients causing catastrophic damage to older...

I'm sorry this is just NOT TRUE! I had 2 hotrod motors destroyed by synthetic oils around 2002. And after talking to the techs at Crane cams, and several hotrod shops around Daytona Beach I was not alone. There's an entire market around Zinc additives for older engines! Google Zinc oil additives...

Agreed, I use 15w40 Rotella, and change the oil every 3000 to 4000 miles. Flat tappet engines will be destroyed by the new oils lacking Zink. Not sure about our 6.2's sense they have roller cams, but I figured why risk it.:shrugs:
