Deuce multifuel engine damaged piston burned/ overheated!!

The piston damage will be as follows, piston no 3 was totally meltet at the top, as you see at the pic i saw also that the heat was only at the top, because the rest of the piston under the rings looks good, so the mistake was inside the combustion chamber above the rings so the engine oil tube...

Deuce multifuel engine damaged piston burned/ overheated!!

Clinto thanks for the pics, really disturbing, the question is was it an individual case @Parker2 Does the the piston from your cummins same looking ike this one, you change piston/liner and injector and everything was fine?

Deuce multifuel engine damaged piston burned/ overheated!!

Yes that`s right, but both of this could not do this I think...Otherwise overfueling will produce black smoke and there was nothing before the engine begins to stop

Deuce multifuel engine damaged piston burned/ overheated!!

I disassembled the injector completely and there was nothing wrong, no dirt/rust e.g..all looking fine and the jets/nozzles are free, I`ve tested with compressed air.It was also full with diesel, injection lines from the pump are also free. A lean burn can`t do a problem like this, because the...

Deuce multifuel engine damaged piston burned/ overheated!!

And faulty injection timing can`t do that? I adjust the pump as follows. TDC mark on vibration damper lines up with mark on timing gear cover (middle line mark which say LDT-465-1C), I turned pump driving gear slot holes so that the front timing mark at the pump also line up (sitting on top...

Deuce multifuel engine damaged piston burned/ overheated!!

Sounds incredible that the engine will be damaged and the truck are not useful anymore in a mission of war, because of a defect injector:roll:Hear they designed the M-engine that it could also run with a faulty injector w/o probs.

Deuce multifuel engine damaged piston burned/ overheated!!

Will check this tomorrow, but it seems that the vlavetrain will be okay, valves move up and down and push rods are straight.Low miles on engine, you can see also the hone textures at the sleeves.Crank and rod journals are shining like chrome

Deuce multifuel engine damaged piston burned/ overheated!!

No it does have and use the FDC.What do you mean with that settings, where to adjust?Do you mean the fuel delivery screw at the hydraulic head?
  12. EveOfDestructionDeuce

Deuce multifuel engine damaged piston burned/ overheated!!

the knock was heavy and comes from the blockated piston at TDC the broken pieces blockated the piston the top, so the rod bent a little bit and engine stayed in this position so wasn`t possible to turn with starter, only in the other direction. could an faulty injector do that damage, if he...

Deuce multifuel engine damaged piston burned/ overheated!!

First at NDT I will come back to you, I need 3 serviceable pistons and 3 sleeves and 1 rod, sleeve inner diameter are 116,0mm (1" = 25,4mm)so they are std.size?

Deuce multifuel engine damaged piston burned/ overheated!!

Have not yet checked that injector, but if it was open all the time, the fuel will not detonate I think.

Deuce multifuel engine damaged piston burned/ overheated!!

Yes, I have also the oiler tube in my mind and have not yet checked this, if the line is clogged....I don`t know how important is that oil line, but I think may be very important, M-engine design is nice, but the heat is a factor so they installed wet oiling sleeves.....Otherwise the piston was...
