New to me m59 dump truck...

No hydraulic work needed, just have to remove the driveshaft between the PTO and hydraulic pump and the two control rods. The pump hangs down a bit so you’ll have to lift the bed higher to clear the truck frame.

I didn't notice any differences between the subframes, beds, or tailgates (except the style of tarp hooks which is probably unrelated). The cab protector is a little bit taller on the m215 than on the m59 I've measured. If you're talking about the rivets on the front subframe mounts then those...

New to me m59 dump truck...

I'm going to try to get it home to VT at some point soon for a future project. Maybe there's one out there with a good boom and a few outriggers, that could help us both out :).

New to me m59 dump truck...

An m108 has been on my "gotta have it" list for a while now. I'm sure there are plenty out there that would be a much easier restoration than this one. It's a 1953 Studebaker. It's got a good frame so technically it's savable. The downside is it needs all new sheet metal, a cab/doors/all...

New to me m59 dump truck...

The dump truck has actually been a little useful lately while doing some tree trimming around the yard. It would really be nice if it was on the road but at least it's somewhat operable. A couple years back I learned that the m108 a couple posts up is owned by another friend of mine, and...

New to me m59 dump truck...

At the NJ show I picked up a mint windshield frame for $20 so I put that on today. I think I'm going to use the headlight panels off of a 1967 truck instead of the 1966 panels that allow for high or low headlights. While putting on a replacement hood I noticed the truck has an LDS IP. Not...

New to me m59 dump truck...

I didn't get time over the winter to do a single thing to the dump truck. I did figure out that the TV episode it was pictured in is from 1991. I also found a shipping receipt for it that shows the first time it came to the yard was in 1995. It was bought as a package deal with an m108 crane...

New to me m59 dump truck...

Maybe this winter I'll clear some space in the barn so I can at least get some work done on parts and pieces. If I stopped buying projects that would help too.

Your m108 is looking good, that'll be a really nice truck when it's all done. I'd like to have one some day but I have to catch up on my current projects first.

New to me m59 dump truck...

I bought the truck two years ago today and it's still not even close to done. I fired it up yesterday and it still drives and tips though! Maybe next year.:-x

They're not perfect but they're on the truck at least. There is supposed to be one more brace on the top of each one, I've got to reweld the one I've got then make another for the passenger side.

New to me m59 dump truck...

Started spraying a little bit of paint today. The goal is to get the quarter fenders on the truck in the next couple days. I'm sick of moving those around the barn. The other day I dug out a 5 ton PTO to sell and it had the aux output for a dump truck installed on it. So I swapped...

New to me m59 dump truck...

The paint scheme will match the m756a2. Gillespie 24087 paint with army markings, stars, etc. The quarter fender had blue paint on it but the mounting brackets for it didn't. At this point it's almost impossible to tell what parts are original and what has been changed over the last 64...

New to me m59 dump truck...

It's been a while since I've done any work on the 2.5 ton dump so I figured I better make some progress now that the weather is decent. Drove it out front and started sanding and priming the back half of the frame, as well as the quarter fenders and brackets. My plan of using 3 other trucks...

New to me m59 dump truck...

The reproduction top bracket for the passenger quarter fender is done, it's much better than I could make and the price was good. At some point I hope to get some real work done on the truck but winter is closing in.

New to me m59 dump truck...

I scrapped the m215 bed a couple months back, got a few more dollars back out of that buy. Last month I stopped by to see my friend jatonka and took a look at his stock m59 (also a 1954 Reo). Today I started making the lower passenger side quarter fender bracket that my truck is missing...

New to me m59 dump truck...

I think it's around $60 a ton up here. Not a lot but it pays for the trip to bring it. Since I've got a few larger items showing up in the near future I'm scrapping out the few junk trucks, cabs, etc. so they'll be a little room in the yard. I hate to scrap this bed but it's rotten throughout...

New to me m59 dump truck...

Not much has happened with the dump truck lately. Since the GMC dump body is so rotted that will be headed to the scrap yard pretty soon. I'll remove the tailgate linkage, some of the hooks, the tailgate itself (good for a pattern) and anything else savable. I'll be keeping the subframe too...

New to me m59 dump truck...

It's quite the project but not too bad compared to what some people start with. At least in the pic above it's recognizable as a dump truck! I did find it funny how it was mentioned that way though. It has to be the same truck as mine, too much of the story lines up and there aren't exactly a...

New to me m59 dump truck...

I'm certain it's now as loud as it's ever been. It still needs a ton of work but it's looking better for sure. I've been working on other projects lately so not a lot has been done. On a related note, I've been searching around for an old pic of the dump truck back when my friend George...
