    If I remember correctly when air pressure is built up, with truck in neutral or a forward gear the forward sprag is engaged. When you shift into reverse, air is dumped from forward sprag and air applied to engage rear sprag. Thus the clunk sound. Thanks for the reply, but still doesnt explain...
