Hey if it does indeed need a new fuel pump, can a electrical inline fuel pump be used? Anyone know of a compatible one?

I hope it doesnt need all that. Im already over 800 dollars into it and id like to be able to get them running and maybe sell them at a profit.

I just picked up two MEP 017A's and they both had gasoline left in the bowl and carb that had since turned to a gooey varnish. My plan is to soak them in laquer thinner. My question is, is this a good idea? Will I damage anything doing it this way? How long should I soak them? Anything...
