    It's a two-piece U shaped spring shackle mount. Not sure if the bolt heads are captured but the weight of the components will definitely keep them from spinning. I wouldn't take *all* the weight off - just support the truck with less of it's weight on that wheel. Spin them off with an impact and...

    You're making it more difficult than it needs to be. But you do you. The spring mount wraps around the frame rail. It's not going anywhere. And not likely to move much.

    Mount is on the nut side. Leave the bolts in place and pull the mount off. I would take the weight off it with a jack but not lift the tire off the ground so it's not hanging from the spring just to keep the bolts from shifting and potentially making it hard to remove/install the bracket.

    Correct - skid plate is an integral component of the lift ram mount.
