Axle (s) rebuild thread, gears and lockers

He is referring to the torque changing due to the addition of lubricant - which it does. Unfortunately without actual testing of dry vs. lubed using a dial indicator to check stud stretch it's impossible to say with much accuracy. Probably easier to clean the anti-seize off and reinstall them...

Axle (s) rebuild thread, gears and lockers

You just drain them and refill them like any other differential.

Axle (s) rebuild thread, gears and lockers

You should NEVER be working on asphalt on a truck this size unless it's an emergency situation. And yes a spreader plate is required in that case.

19" vs. 31" height - and USA made for $60 more. No comparison IMO.

I wouldn't trust anything from HF to hold up a 20k lb truck. The military uses these for FMTV's: https://www.ccmilitary.com/products/heavy-duty-jack-stand-7-ton

Used to use that a lot. It's AWEFUL to clean up if you ever have to go back in there. I personally use The Right Stuff black. It's a "1 minute RTV silicone." Works amazing on SBC china walls..... Hylomar would be another interesting choice. Also requires a special solvent but it's reusable...

Axle (s) rebuild thread, gears and lockers

Definitely more work. But worth it for the results. And can put the 3.07's back together with the open diffs from the truck and sell them. Swapping a ring gear carrier isn't that tough of a job - these are fairly large diffs but they aren't THAT big in the scheme of things. Only about 1" larger...

Axle (s) rebuild thread, gears and lockers

I would bet real money there's nothing he can't climb unless he hasn't got the traction. I've had my truck at the sand dunes, and off road here in the PNW mud and trails and not had any scenario where I had insufficient torque to spin tires. @ckouba has the 3.07's, lockers, AND ECO hubs on his...

Axle (s) rebuild thread, gears and lockers

See the comment above from @hike You will have plenty of low range. More than enough to overcome your ability to provide traction. You are seeing a drawback where none exists. You *want* something that's not being taken away. It's only your perception and understanding that's limited here. The...

Axle (s) rebuild thread, gears and lockers

Seriously - sell them after you pull the lockers out and do ECO hubs. Keep the 3.90's. The 3.07's aren't as good with the ECO hubs. So many benefits. Biggest is really saving the engine and transmission - that C6 thrust bearing - engine longevity from not screaming at redline. Literally no on...
