    7.3L international in a deuce?

The original GMC transfer is always retained for a few reasons. As you said, the front output spins in reverse which is pretty unique for any transfer case, not to mention the rear has two outputs where most only have 1. Not saying it wouldn't work, just would have a lot of disadvantages. The...

    7.3L international in a deuce?

Here's the poop on the 6bt. It will fit, but you will need to cut out part of the firewall and make a doggy house in the cab. No big deal. Even with an NV4500 (you'll want an OD for sure) you just won't have room for a reduction box. Not a problem with the stock axle ratio's, however if you drop...

    7.3L international in a deuce?

I hope Dave does this. Had I not opted for the 6.2 I would have definitely looked at a 6.9 or 7.3. Bulletproof engines and easy to acquire. FWIW, Tom at Alfa Heaven did the 700r4/6.2 swap in a few M211's. He said he hauled 2000 gallons of water at 75mph routinely, he loved the setup. That is...

    7.3L international in a deuce?

Dave! You slacker! Get back on the GMC, I want to see that thing in there! Really though, real excited to see how the 6bt fits because I myself have a line on a full drivetrain out of a 1992 RAM 2500. 12v, turbo, NV4500 and NP205 Tcase. Just over 110,000 original miles. I've been measuring and...

    7.3L international in a deuce?

Dave, you are obviously very knowlegeable in all things mechanical, and I appreciate the info you have given me through PM's, I think the best thing we can do when somebody makes a post that we disagree with, is ignore it. Whether it's about factual information or just somebody's personal...

    7.3L international in a deuce?

You know, it would be interesting to find out just how much power the driveline on the G749 series can handle before things start coming apart. The most powerful conversion I have seen was a 502 Chevy BB. In fact, I was talking with the guy who put the 502 in his M135 and I have seen many other...

    7.3L international in a deuce?

I do see your point. There is obviously room for lots of improvement MPG wise. Why must all things that we men enjoy be so expensive? I would offroad more in mine but you just end up using A LOT of gas in a vehicle of this class. Lots of revving while barely gaining any distance, the soft...

    7.3L international in a deuce?

If you mean the 302, it puts out a max of about 135hp. The best MPG figures I have seen have been around 9 or 10 city miles per gallon. Realistically though, most probably get less than 8.

    7.3L international in a deuce?

And two M135's at that! :-D I found this after some searching. Might want to try contacting MajorTom for more info. View topic - Manual Trans early deuce...? :: Steel Soldiers :: Military Vehicles Supersite

    7.3L international in a deuce?

Yes, the truck in question is a M211. It was given to him for free too. Lucky dog. Dave, whatever you end up doing I am sure it will a good conversion. DO take lots of pictures, many are watching. :D

    7.3L international in a deuce?

Based on your replies I'd say it sounds to me like you already have your mind made up, Dave. ;) Honestly, if MPG is that much of a concern don't you think a slightly smaller Military Vehicle or other big truck would be better suited to meet your needs/wants? You may be trying to make a silk...
