    MEP-802A fuel tank removal.

Good to go. Make sure that item 37 is also mounted. Sometimes its comes with item 38, sometimes not. Depended on the manufacture. DO NOT, I repeat, do not over tighten the thing up. You will rip the rubber portion, and it will leak once again. Been there, done that twice. And dont forget the...

    MEP-802A fuel tank removal.

Yeah, you can replace it, but you need to get the right part to get it done right. The rubber plug that fits into the hole in the tank, has a nut imbedded in it. When you screw in the nipple, it pulls the nut towards the nipple, expanding the rubber plug and that seals the hole in the tank. Try...

    MEP-802A fuel tank removal.

I used to make the run from K-Town to the house here in a little over 3 hours if my wife was not in the car. 4 hours if she was. If you are eating Schweinshaxe in K-Town, you haven't ever had a REAL Haxe!!!!! You need to spend some time down here in REAL Germany. And the best beer in the world...

    MEP-802A fuel tank removal.

Speaking of fuel systems. I found some of he plastic hose clamps for the fuel and coolant system in my junk box. I will see if I can round them all up, determine what the various NSN's are and then let you all know. If someone wants them, I will be happy to send them out. You just got to pay for...

That looks like a flow through bolt for an injector, or some other fuel connection. Fig. 4, Item 8, in the TM 9-2815-252-24P is a good example, but its been too long ago for me to tell if that's it. NEVER be surprised at what you find in a generator set.

The oil pressure SWITCH, fig.20, item 6 is a universal switch. That means it has a normally open contact, and a normally closed contact. So one wire is simply not needed. Part number: 88-21126 NSN: 5930-01-378-6921 The oil pressure SENDING UNIT, Figure 20, Item 7 Part number: 02504...

Yup, and that means you have to bend the fuel line to get the Aux pump to fit in where the primary was bolted on. If the pump works, don't fool with it. Bending the steel fuel line is not good. If you ever need a new pump, get an AIRTEC. its round and a better pump. BUT, it needs a small...

Whoooooooooooooooooooooo, I been promoted!! Hot ****. I never made it that far in real life. My name is Guy wiltfang, and yeah, give me a call. OK, I understand microwave. We had a wonderful, but problematic device called an AMG, while I was in PATRIOT. It was/is a PITA to keep up in the air...

The pin I was talking about was to the plug on the fuel pump. From the picture it looks like one wire to the plug was routed on a red wire next to the plug.

Electric Pump performance. Rule of thumb is it should fill up a coffee cup in less then 30-40 seconds.

kb3bf, Yes, you could look at the manual a little more. The parts manual would have explained what the ground rod was. AND, you can see how to remove it. I was sorta like you before the military "fixed" me. My dad said that some people learn by reading. Some people learn by watching. And I just...

Something else to remember about the convenience receptacle. While it is protected by the Ground Fault Isolator, (GFI) the main lugs are not. Always get them tight, but they are real easy to over tighten and strip the threads out. They are a PITA to when you have screwed the threads up. I have...

Sounds good!We are going to make you a generator mechanic yet!! Talk to you in the morning. Its 22:42 and my wife is yelling at me to come lay down.

I would not use sealants. The cork gaskets work well if you still have them and they are in good shape. If not, you can get gasket material and make your own. IF you do use sealants, make sure they are meant to be used with Diesel fuel. The military uses JP-8 fuel for everything from rotor wing...

KB3BF, Ya done good. Unless you do this all the time, 6 hours is good time. You will be a generator mechanic before you know it. Take the time to look at EVERYTHING. You have invested 6 hours in the teardown, so you should not let it go to waste. Take more pictures and post them. Maybe one of...

    MEP-802A fuel tank removal.

On the side of the skid. I did find one leaker that had a nut under the tank, between the tank and bottom of the gen set. Vibrations wore it through. The unit waited so long for a tank, they took the set down range again, (where the problem started to begin with!) and stole a tank from someone...

    MEP-802A fuel tank removal.

Oh, for the slow leakers. Check the fuel tank drain petcock. The expandable plug it screws into is often loose, or someone has over tightened it and tears the captive nut loose inside the rubber plug. Then it never gets tight, but seeps forever. The expandable plug CAN be changed without pulling...

Korgoth1 and Dieseladdict are right. Its a PITA, but there is no other way. And the radiator always needs to be cleaned. At the same time, you can chect out everything else to see if its in good shape. WARNING, WARNING Will Robinson! Do not get Acetone on your fuel float switch. If you do, you...
