    Mep701a stopped producing power

There is someone in the forum giving away a MEP-701A. Look in to it.

    Mep701a stopped producing power

You need to go to TM 5-6115-615-34, PDF reader page number 85. Start there and read how to check your rotor, stator and diodes. If you have that much voltage on F1 and F2, the exciter works, but your main gen will not light off.

    Mep701a stopped producing power

Look at the front of the volt reg. There is a listing, of where the jumpers go. Follow it. Might be a good idea to take the set home, and work on it in your garage.

Offgrid, Sorry I didn't get to see this earlier. I have been flat on my back with the flu since Sunday. still not up to snuff. If you take two wires, run from the gen set battery, and momentarily touch them to The F1, (Positive) and F2, (Negative), that should excite the main gen. Just do not...

    Mep701a stopped producing power

First we need to see if F1 and F2 are sending power to the exciter, then check the rest. Don't thank me, you are doing all the work. Keep reading a bit, and we can try and knock this out next weekend. I will in all probability be highly, well, at my age, moderately intoxicated this next...

Wires to terminal board Terminal 20, Wire number A1-TB2-1 terminal 21, Wire number A1-TB2-2 terminal 24, Wire number A1-TB2-6 terminal 26, Wire number A2-R1-B Terminal 28, Wire number A2-R1-C terminal 27, A1-TB2-11 Now its right. I had the wrong 3 kw wire diagram

    Mep701a stopped producing power

On the volt regulator shoud be a red, black and another color wire. They have to be moved to certin terminals that are just for your set.

    Mep701a stopped producing power

Ok, did you hook up the jumpers on the VR IAW the red directions, on the VR, for your gen set?

    Mep701a stopped producing power

If you have hertz, you have to have some kind of volts. Try bringing up the hertz to 60. Terminal 20 and 20 on the volt regulator should be the left two terminals on the VR I am sitting in front of the computer, as long as my wife doesn't start *itching it time to go to bed.

Did you try flashing the field? Sometimes with a new regulator, you need to do that. Did you follow the hook up instructions on the Regulator, concerning the jumpers? Measure pins 20 and 21 when someone else starts the set. What do you get?

    Mep701a stopped producing power

Do the wires have numbers on them? If so, no need to mark the wires. Simply hook them up IAW the wire diagram. I assume you are talking about the warning in message 13? If so, the positive side goes to pin 20, and the negative side to pin 21. The regulator is a universal regulator, so you need...

PAOZZ 2920-01-275-4311 PLUG, GLOW ......................... 333-0242 (44940) 19G (70040) You should have the right plug. And if the NSN was on the bag also, then you could have looked that up in the TM. For that matter, the part number, 333-0242 is also listed in the TM.

    Mep701a stopped producing power

That's always a good thought. But his gen set stopped making electricity, and kept running. Normally when a generator loses its excitation field, its been setting too long, or the generator has been dropped, or had some sort of a shock. But it cant hurt. If you want to try that, LOOK at the...

    Mep701a stopped producing power

I second SCSG-G4's comment. NEVER idle a generator. Yes T2 and the Q2 transistor are in the regulator. Not to worry. Just make sure the jumpers on the volt regulator are in the same place as on the old one. They are all color different, so its just too simple. If you know someone who works...

    Mep701a stopped producing power

The T2 transformer and the Q-? Transistor were a weak point. I will not say that's what's wrong with yours, but our support unit that repaired the regulators often complained about how many of them they replaced. My theorie is that too many people idled the gen set to cool them down. Idling is...

    Mep701a stopped producing power

Changing a volt reg is tooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo easy. 4 screws, and about 7-8 wires? Not something I would call hard. The gen set uses a "universal regulator" That means it is used in 3-5 different gen sets. The only thing you need to look at is the wire diagram to make sure the...

    Mep701a stopped producing power

I would upload the TM's on a lap top. take it with you. Sometimes, the circuit breakers just needs to be reset. It trips, but the handle doesn't go down. If so, just push it down, (you should feel it kinda slip, and then click into place) and then back up. If that is not it, look at the...

    Mep701a stopped producing power

Your hertz meter dosnt work, because it needs AC voltage. So, did the circuit breaker trip? Or is it still in the up positions? Do you have the TM's for this gen set? Have you read the troubleshooting diagram? Can you use a multimeter and schematics? were you using the gen set for anything...
