Pacifist? Eh; not really. In my case it was under $30. Would have akin to pole vaulting a mouse turd. Not a hill with enough value that I was willing to die on.
Same thing happened to me with a broken FMTV windshield. They withheld the credit card fees because they said that was not their doing. I can understand that - I don’t like it though. They could refund me that money and then they discuss their own reimbursement with the credit card processor...
Those instances I could see more as a local decision and not a corporate one. If it were my business I might strategically “delay” select items but not for very long.
I’ve also wondered if they sometimes transport some items to different locations to get better bidding and higher prices.
You make an excellent point. From a business standpoint it makes sense. But to hold on to them for a long period of time seems senseless. It also
could be those trailers in the background have not been fully processed or “released” from DLA?
I would never be convinced that RB/GP/IP hoard items or delay sales in order to manipulate supply for larger profits. They’ve got 10’s of millions of dollars tied up in inventory that they need to move. If anything, they’re struggling with trying to get items sold quicker. Between DLA...
Agreed. But this Copeland guy seems to be a problem also. And Copeland can run interference with customers for the yard guys meaning no changes happen. Sounds like this issue isn’t isolated and needs escalated to a higher level manager.
Hey, I’m with you. The level of customer service should not be based on the amount of money someone spends. Unless they specifically go and look, those yard guys have no idea what we pay for stuff.
Exactly; you caught on pretty quick. It doesn’t matter how many dollars are dropped at RB/GP/IP ….. unless it’s quite a substantial amount. A BIG spender buyer may get some special treatment, but not us little guys. I’ve found extraordinary customer service to be more about relationship...
Sometimes when I want one or two items it comes on a skid or pallet box with lots of other stuff. I only resell the stuff that I don’t need. It’s not a job for me and it’s not for the money. Sometimes I’ll go after something that I feel I can resell or it’s bulk of an item that many FMTV...
So Copeland works more at the “corporate level”. I buy from PA, MD, and NV. Each location has its own managers. In PA for example, they have a warehouse & a yard; each is managed by a different person.
I don’t know how your location (s) are set up. I haven’t had an issue with the yard I use...
