New question, same topic.
I'm installing everything back and there is a bracket that goes on the bottom of the steering wheel column inside the cab. It is a metal bracket that bolts to the underneath of the column. Attached is a electrical connection of some sort.
First, what is this box...
Good to know. Thank you for letting me know that. I will figure out how to repost the pictures on the full site as opposed to this application.

Post directly to site? Instead of posting via Tapatalk app? If that's the case, I was not aware of the dead links issue. I can definitely post directly through SS.

It's not in the truck, but I'll go that route. :)
So, if I fully expand the old shaft and measure, I should be able to make the new one the same length and I'll be good?

OK… I have the steering wheel cleaned, steering shaft is painted, and I'm ready to cut the shaft. How is best to measure the shaft? Use the original shaft to measure and then cut?

Got it on, finally. I just kind of "smoothed" the edges around the column shaft for a little bit and then it went on.

That is what I was afraid of. I was hoping to get that finished up this weekend, but it looks like I'll be delayed at least another week.
Yes, those are set screws. I've been told that it keeps it tight and gets rid of all play in the steering wheel.

Working on the new shaft from Borgerson. Ordered the one that should work, but now I'm worried that the donor column does not fit the new U joint.
The new joint does not want to slip on the steering column upper shaft.
I have tried tapping it gently, but it's not going on.
Any suggestions...
I went to the Bourgeson site and could not find the part without a rag joint. I was looking in the k5 Blazer section. Do I need to search for another application?

That matches with what my gut was telling me. I'll start looking for a replacement while everything is apart.
Thanks!

Got it out.
Used heat, a hammer, and put the steering wheel back on temporarily to have leverage for pulling.
Question now is whether or not the coupler needs to be replaced while I'm there?
How do you know if it needs to be replaced and if it does, are the parts readily accessible?
I'm...
Wound up having a full weekend with family. The plan is to try at it later this afternoon. I'll give an update at that time. :)

I'm having trouble disassembling the upper steering shaft from the lower steering shaft? TM manual says to separate, but not how to get them unstuck.
How do I separate the upper from the coupling?
I have most of the original column out, but can't get this part to come apart.
