The beast died after hitting a bump!!

Yeh, trying to keep it simple, without knowing what he really has where and more than likely caused two problems trying to fix one.

The beast died after hitting a bump!!

If your luck is like mine, with your process of elimination of new parts and poor test methods, then your solution will be the last component you replace. I'm assuming you don't have a load tester for your batteries? Just checking volts with a meter is not good enough, as gimpyrobb stated...

The beast died after hitting a bump!!

It's very possible it has been painted over. The 8.3 cranks very fast, unless your batteries are down or junk.

By the nature of their design they will, and do consume considerably less power.

The beast died after hitting a bump!!

Thanks for sharing that story again! It really helps one recognize the damage that can be done by shorting batteries. I went to add a cable to the stud on the solenoid just a couple of days ago... As I stood there looking at it, wondering if I should cautiously install it hot, I thought of...

The beast died after hitting a bump!!

Don't bridge the big terminals on these big diesel systems. You'll get a much larger fireworks show than your everyday vehicle. You want to jump the small start terminal to the big battery terminal. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Do you know how to jump the solenoid? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The beast died after hitting a bump!!

The truck will be much better with two 8D's. Depending on how the car battery went "bad", was likely your entire problem. Make sure the new batteries are both fully charged, check the voltage across both batteries with a meter, start the truck and check the voltage again...
