Hope you don't have a headgasket that didn't seal... that could also cause your ticking and make it run at an elevated temperature. You'd likely see other symptoms though.

You need to get out on the road and load the engine hard to seat the rings. Idling is the worst thing for a freshly ringed engine. Do not idle it longer than necessary to reach operating temperature before a drive.

Make sure all of your injector hold down bolts are tight. A slight compression leak around an injector will make a ticking noise that can be hard to locate.

Loving the Cummins so far. It's quite a bit shorter so it gives plenty of room for a large air to air charge cooler. It's also significantly lighter than either the multifuel or the Dt466.

You would be money ahead looking into a Cummins swap. I have a complete video guide if you are interested. It will be more expensive than rebuilding your multifuel, but you won't be doing it again in 20,000 miles.

Yup. Start looking for an engine or planning a swap. You have damaged pistons and/ or liners. These engines really aren't worth the cost to overhaul anymore for their average lifespan ( 40-50K miles)

Absolutely coming from the injection pump. Replace the hydraulic head o-rings and the boost pump drive seal and you'll be good to go until something else breaks. Your knocks could be cylinder liners that are coming apart. That's what happened to my LDS465-1A, which is why I've spent so much...

You need to change your hydraulic head o-rings and probably the boost pump seal too. Need to stop the fuel in oil contamination first and foremost, then move forward. Running it with fuel in the oil is hard on bearings and cylinders even if not under a load.
