    Need opinions on transmission choice

    You won't gain any lower gear with the 4L80, just overdrive which you won't need if you are slinging 2500 pounds with the wrecker. Keep the TH400. Get the 205 transfer case, ORD can get you the adapter. You also need crossmember and possibly the skidplate. There are aftermarket adapters too...
