    It is a normally closed switch, calibrated to open at a very low temperature. Unlike most standard temperature switches which close at much higher temperature, like those for cooling fan relays.

    Yes, scotch locks are trash. Weakens the wire, promotes fatigue and corrosion. Heat shrink crimp connectors are my favorite. Solder and heat shrink for low profile connections in a loom.
