    A foot valve only maintains prime when the pump is off. You would need a pump that is self-priming unless you have a quantity of fuel to do that. Be careful discussing this TEOTWAWKI engineering as a few years ago, someone was stealing fuel from underground storage tanks by parking a trailer...
