Exactly plus they are cast..... I can see them breaking pretty easy, **** I've seen top of the line rod ends and chrome moly sheer off..... and not due to inferior welds or quality parts either.
Yes..... that's a majority of what we use at work. It's much stronger then er70s-6 and runs very nice and clean. But we still use shielding gas. It's a requirement by some railroad specifications where are trailers run.
Ok so here is the front mounts. They turned out great I think. 6 1/2" mounting bolts and it's made out of 1/4" plate.
Now as far as the rear I'm not sure yet. I want to make it removable but the idea I had I'm not sure if it will work. It will depend on the angle from the front mount if it...
Ok so the front mounts are done. But I can't decide on the back mounts. On top of the axle or on the bottom? I thought about making a bracket and using smaller u bolts to attach it to the axle. What do you guys think?
Ok so traction bars are done. Just have to build the mounts for the front and I'm going to use 3/8" angle in the rear to help protect the bushing from rocks.
I used 1 1/2" schedule 80 structural pipe. It was about .040" over 1 1/2". They are 5 feet long. Here is some pictures.
Yes, because if I decide to go higher later on down the road I'm going to make lift brackets like you have. I have spring saddles made already with 1.5" lift built in already. They will get welded to the axle. Then I'll use appropriate lift blocks hopefully only measuring out to 2" or so. I have...
The problem I'm going to have is I'm using m105 springs so my traction bars will be narrower then the springs which I'm hoping helps with articulation. Idk
Well my heim joints showed up today. I ordered them off eBay came from California. they are ruff stuffs joints 7/8" to 3/4" with 5/8" misalignment bushings. $75 shipped for the pair. I'll make the mounts on Monday.
Now thats a heim joint
Lol so did I. I ordered the 7/8"x3/4" heim kit and I got energy suspension bushings for the rear. I'm going to start out long I cut the tubing at 60". I also started to cut the front pieces for the mount. I'm going to use 3"x3"x3/8" angle and 1/4" plate that will mount to the frame. I should...
I'm thinking your right.... The truck is simple so keep it simple. I like the single bars better. Easier to make and cheaper. I'm thinking of using heims in the front and some energy suspension bushings in the back that I have laying around from a old bronco that I never put them in.
Mudguppy how long are your bars? I have some schedule 80 structural 1 1/4" steel pipe laying around and I'd have enough to make to bars at 60". Is that long enough you think?
