    If you put the smallest dab of oil onto the barb or the end of the gates, it slides right together. I fought with that same thing early on, only takes the smallest amount to make assembly so much easier.

    While its OEM, I dont really like the Contitech hose. I've not experienced a single failure with the Gates 1/8" (that I have been told about). Thats a good price for that hose though.

    Yes, you are going to want to disconnect the line from the end of the fuel rail. You can't take a shortcut back to the tank from here though... if you take the top sheet metal off, you will see that there are 4 plastic Ts on top of the cylinder heads where this line sits. To do this job right...

    Welcome to SS. Take the sheet metal panel off the machine near the fuel inlet, and you will see exactly where the line terminates. It does pass through a clearance hole in the sheet metal, to end above the fuel tank. Very easy repair, and a great time to learn a bit about what runs where, and why.
