Thats your call... set was designed for the pipe size as is. Larger shouldnt be a penalty (typically isnt on diesel systems as they do not want backpressure). I would just make sure you do not have needless angles or bends in the exit pipe.

They are not designed for any additional backpressure which would come from such an addition... I would not do it. These are very quiet sets... not hospital grade quiet, but damn quiet to me. Do you find yours is loud??
I use 1/4" hardware cloth on the underside, with self tapping sheet metal screws. If you want to bullet proof it, do the air intakes on the sides, and figure out how to delete the 'sock' at the wire entrance with something that a rodent cant climb/chew through.
You aren't the first to experience befuddlement due to low voltage on batteries, wont be the last either. Make sure you keep them topped off during the cold months ahead. Also you should really consider rodent proofing your set, if you have not done so yet.
