I bought a "Not operationally checked" MEP-803A what can I expect?

Thats a good leak... only while running or when the set is priming? Have you taken the roof off the set for full access and view?

I bought a "Not operationally checked" MEP-803A what can I expect?

Most auto parts stores will test your battery for free. Worth a drive if you have one local.

I bought a "Not operationally checked" MEP-803A what can I expect?

Someone before you was trying to diagnose an electrical problem and gave up... thats my bet. Just put a 10k up for sale in the classifieds that showed up with all the relays loose, no hold downs in place, no start, no power condition.

And to help you further, Page 55 of 9-8115-642-24 describes the testing procedure for 'Engine Fails to Crank'. Let us know what you come back with.

I bought a "Not operationally checked" MEP-803A what can I expect?

Have you perused the -24 manual yet for the no start condition? Have you tried flipping the dead crank switch to the up position, to see if she turns over that way (even though it wont start). Are you sure your batteries are good and charged? Edit: I see you said same concern with dead crank...

I bought a "Not operationally checked" MEP-803A what can I expect?

The spring form is the hold down bracket for the electromechanical relays just in front of the TB. One per relay. They tuck into small V notched at each side of the grey plastic base, and slide up and hold the relays down. If this a set for yourself, if you are in the wrenching mind take the...

welcome to the world of as-is/where-is surplus. Glad you found the issue though early. Sucks about getting stuck though... think of it as a story you can retell now.

Balance anything properly and you are golden. My 802 trailer unit I believe was set up for comm equipment in its past life, having mast holders as well as a large reel spool up front, which surely was taken into account when determining the bolt position. With that spool empty, its definitely...

I bought a "Not operationally checked" MEP-803A what can I expect?

I still affirm that this is a rear heavy set, and you are to be very careful around it as bolted. I have an 802 on a hmmwv trailer, and I have tipped it under normal use backwards. So be careful

I bought a "Not operationally checked" MEP-803A what can I expect?

Ive moved numerous sets around on trailers, from the underside of the genset while bolted down (with forks). It will work for simply levelling a machine out to tie it to a pintle, but not really for lifting purposes. It can be rolled short distances this way too if need be, but there is always a...

I bought a "Not operationally checked" MEP-803A what can I expect?

If the rear stabilizer leg is there, be sure to deploy it before you or GP touches the trailer. Much easier to simply raise it back up after you are locked on the pintle, versus having a trailer pointed nose to the north star (and hopefully no one underneath it).

I bought a "Not operationally checked" MEP-803A what can I expect?

The castle nut on each hub is 1.5", so won't hurt to bring a 1.5" socket and a long 1/2" breaker in case you need to loosen or tighten while going down the road based on hub temps like Mike mentioned above). And absolutely bring some extra quick links as the tow chains are sized to a hmmwv, not...

I bought a "Not operationally checked" MEP-803A what can I expect?

You need to be particularly careful with this set, the landing gear is missing from the front. Also I don't see a rear stabilizing leg... which in this case, is VERY important as the genset is turned around 180* from normal. The consideration of safety here is key, because the weight on these...

I bought a "Not operationally checked" MEP-803A what can I expect?

Very good advice. Also firing off a set for the first time you have no idea what to expect. Remember, while extremely rare, diesel engines can 'run away'. You simply need to cut off all air supply to the engine, should this ever occur. The air inlet is on the starter side.

I bought a "Not operationally checked" MEP-803A what can I expect?

If it were me, I would complain to the auction house you got this from, that it was not delivered as advertised. If they showed you one battery, even if its dead, there better damn well be one battery in the machine when I received it.

I bought a "Not operationally checked" MEP-803A what can I expect?

Don't expect anything... thats a good baseline. Read the manuals, inspect the set, take as many photos as you can, and go piece by piece.
