    The coolant overtemp switch, as Kurt calls out... doesn't drive the gauge. Its what triggers an overtemp fault. It is "INDEX Thermostatic Switch 8037122" The sender you are looking for is a standard 1/8" 450 to ~30ohm. You can use this one...

    If it makes rated power, its working just fine. You may just have a slightly weaker governor tension spring. You could fiddle with the droop adjustment too, but I wouldn't. I'd just get the load to where you plan on running it and compensate as needed. They aren't race cars.

    Don't know if you have mud wasps where you are, but they will fill that drain port unless you block it when not in use.

    To retain the nut that might come loose ( so it doesn't vibrate off the stud), as well as to be a hindrance to putting a tool on the lug. At least that's how I see it.
