Good info.
It would have been much simpler to put in a relay triggered by the GP relay, so that the overdrive was automatically disconnected when the GPs cycle. Then you never need to think about it.
Bad grounds will do some very whacky things. When those little electrons start looking for a home, and the ground path just isn't looking very inviting, they go strange places and do strange things. Grounding is very misunderstood and often taken for granted.
Oh, you are a bad boy...
How are you checking the voltage? Meter? OR test light? Meters can lie. You can see great voltages until there's a load, then the jolts drop to near zero. This happens because there is a high resistance somewhere upstream from your load.
Also, check your ground with a meter. Disconnect...

I've got a dented driveshaft for a civvyChevy that needs help. Planning to make the drive over to Lorton to drop it off. There doesn't seem to be anybody closer to me.
So, if I understand this correctly, the GV unit replaces the tailhousing, right? So you use the same transfer case and shortened driveshaft? Or do you need to do other mods?
If the new tailhousing is longer, how does that work with the TC?
So, this basically gives you a 6 speed...
