What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Finally got all 50 holes filled in bed, primered and painted. Bumpers are painted now too. Unfortunately, I ran out of flat black in middle of painting and switched to a new can. The new can had same batch code as the old can of flat black. After painting both bumpers I realize the flat black...

Sanded and primed my front and rear bumper and top of bed sides. US Forest service mounted a spray rig in my truck and apparently had a contest as to how many holes they could drill into the bed. My count is around 50. I have been filling these and doing body work on them for two weeks. Bed...

Where and how do you get a USA plate? Never heard of them. Pretty cool though! I bought a generic license plate light that needs two 1/8 holes for mounting and maybe a 1/4 in hole for the wires. Got it at oreily auto parts. It is an optronics led mini license plate light. Have not installed yet...

What brand of paint t did you use? Do you know what the paint code was? That 1009 looks great! I am approaching getting my 1008 painted and am trying to get the right paint code for the body shop. I know federal standard 34094 is the original code. We tried looking it up on the paint mixing...

My dad said moth balls will keep mice out. Cheaper than an ozone machine. But ozone can kill bacteria and I assume viruses as well. High concentrations of it can be harmful, if a lot is inhaled. Ozone is why the air smells so fresh after a thunderstorm. The lightning creates ozone.

Where do you get it? If I could put something down on the floor pan first would be great. Thanks

Mine has the anti skid coating on floor. As of now there is little to no rust on this truck. None in floor pan. IIhave one small spot on driver cab corners where a plug fell out and some dirt got in. Whenever I get money to build a shop the m1008 will be in there, and I have our cars in my...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Just took the tar paper and felt padding from my k5 and am putting in m1008. It is factory GM stuff. The k5 is very rusty no rockers left or cab corners, but when I pulled the carpet, floor pan was in good condition. That is after years of a leaky windshield and constant moisture in floor board...

Yes I agree. I have a k5 too and you can barely see the gauges at night. I only switched the three backlighting bulbs with LEDs bc they were $7 a pop at Walmart. O'Reilly wanted 12$. Definitely worth the $20 if you already have instrument cluster out.

Two new Kumho at51 235/85/r16 installed on front of m1008. The tires I replaced had a date code from 1991. They were getting pretty rough and with the warm weather we have had I was afraid they would blow. Tires were ordered from Walmart website for $125 a piece and I got them free shipping in 3...

I aligned the marks but on first try was one spline off , so I moved it one spline clockwise and I am good to go now. My dad said get the wheel as close as you can with the factory marks and then adjust drag link . I'm good now though. Thanks again . Stay cool.

Removed and changed fuel filter. Also i removed that pesky fuel pressure sensor. Next my dad and I tapped the hole and put a small bolt with loctite in. I put my horn button back on after steering wheel removal for new lock cylinder. Button was off for a while, due to realignment of the...

Got center speaker mounted after some minor modification. Next moved along and got radio mounted in dash. Had to drill one hole for a bolt to mount the stereo support bracket. Got stereo situated like I want after comparing to stereo in my k10 truck. Leaving town Thursday for Bluegrass music and...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Mine would not go into accessory position with original lock cylinder. Whether it was from age, dirt, or disuse, I don't know. I read on the forums that the army didn't have an accessory position on the cylinders. Maybe maybe not. Warthog said the ignition switch was the same as civilian. So I...
