    That makes sense, and will probably feel more open not to have the chains on the corners between the bunks.

    Curious, have you thought about attaching the bottom bunk to the top via a chain. That way the bottom bunk would self level when you level the top one? Just an idea, since it looks like your spacing is uniform.
