Yes, but it’s not always for performance. In this case I’ll be using a nozzle ahead of the turbo for wet compression, sized only for the required air and it’ll be just controlling heat created within the turbo. If I want more after that then I’ll install them post-turbo.
Grabbed a new o-ring...
I waited until I got a pedal lol I could’ve done it without the pedal it it was just easier with it since I had it and I could work on it on the table. Can’t do that with most of the rest of this build but that’s just life.
No intercooler at all, this was a fresh build with brand new material...
I just looked at video that I recorded the day I put the pump in place and the o-ring that I thought I may have overlooked in my haste to put the pump on was actually there. So now I am at a loss as to why I have a leak at the front of the pump. I am trying to talk to Will, but he hasn’t replied...
I finally got the new intake plenum finished last night and bolted into place today. Got the fuel lines on and started to bleed them and it started. It was running on only one or two cylinders and it was a good thing the neighbor happened to stop by as this was going on, because he noticed a...
I swear, if it ain’t one flipper thing it’s another!!!!! I drove down to TMG to pick up the last throttle linkage upgrade kit they had, and a couple zipper boots since I needed them too. 10hr round trip, not including the time me and Rob spent just chatting and annoying Samantha lol, not bad for...
Wow, holy ****, I can definitely tell that it’s been well over a decade since I’ve done any TIG welding. Didn’t spend much time welding on it because my welder was almost out of fuel, but I did get some done. I really wish I had a foot controller for this welder too, but that will just have to...
Haven’t done an update in a while
I got the aftercooler replacement tacked together with the MIG yesterday, and hopefully I can finish it up with TIG tomorrow or the day after.
Also drove to TMG so I could get the parts I needed to get the truck driving, or at least I hope. Somehow my...
Today I finally spent some time working on the truck, most of this past week has been recovery from a wrist injury and the week before was all welding on the ISO frame. I spent a little time with the tech supervisor at Cummins and explained my problem. Basically, the head I got was an incorrect...
Sorry for the late update fellas. Found, ordered, and received a new pump, and I do mean NEW. Slightly different, but only on the governor settings side. Will helped me verify that it would work before I ordered it. Also ordered and received the new elbow for air compressor inlet as well as the...
Give me a call so we can work out details - 928-350-9048 if I don’t answer just leave a message and I’ll call back when I have signal (I’ll be out in the woods cutting firewood)
Still waiting on a call from the shop, at this point I’m going to have to wait until next next month to pick the pump up...assuming they have even fixed it. If this ends up being a bust I may end up just getting the setup from Clint or just finding another pump online somewhere instead.
I’ve been trying to make progress, but I’ve been waiting on the pump shop. Actually called them this morning and got bad news. Apparently there was a problem with something called anerobic or some crap and I guess it is a part that isn’t sold as a replacement. To top that off the guy that works...
Tried to PM you Clint, but you inbox is full. Honestly it would have to be about the same cost for me to consider it. About $1000 is what is left that I’d have to pay to get that pump fixed, and honestly all I can afford (monthly check from the VA for disabilities)
Forgot to update. Got the pump to the shop for a quote. All total it’s about $1150 to have it repaired, had to pay $160 to get it back from them, but that cost will go towards the rebuild price fortunately. I will have to wait until next month to take it in and have them do the rebuild. Next...
I’m already leaning that way at the moment. I have found some info on the pump, and the after reading the manual some it actually has more info in it than I had anticipated. Only problem is that the plunger/barrel assembly (matched sets) are pretty expensive for this pump, which is why the...
Only been a couple days since the last update but A LOT has happened!
A couple days ago I got the #4 fuel injector line I was waiting for so I decided to get back to work. Got a few more things taken care of on the engine, just enough to try to start it. I bleed the fuel lines again and she...
Traded some effort and use of my torque multiplier for the wheels so I could get another protective control box from another SS member in AZ. Just got back and put it in. He said he wasn’t sure if it worked or not since it was under his seat when he got his truck from auction. We did at least...
Yeah, there’s no way around that for me. I don’t have the luxury of having the truck in any kind of building. I did my best to keep the weather and elements out of the engine, but you’ve all seen how well that has gone.
Nope, didn’t replace it. Matter of fact, I didn’t think of it all, but you made a good point.
I just did a second rebuild on this turbo because of the engine. First one way back when this whole shebang started I bought a full cartridge and swapped it in easy, this time I only got the turbo...
