    Trouble in Iowa with titles

We finally received title. A PITA. Titled as a 1997 RedRiver M925. If you need plates you have to advise the state goons when you send the title for transfer to you FD. Apparently such is not obvious.

    Trouble in Iowa with titles

Received a IDOT form (Military Certificate of Compliance Form 411187) to self certify that vehicle meets Ia safety regs. Only issue I see is license plate light which will be easy and obvoius addition. Next stet ? May have issue of year of mfg as only data plate is rebuild at Red River in...

    Trouble in Iowa with titles

Will be interesting to see what Iowa DOT comes up. They decided need to have an emplyee inspect the truck. ONLY data plates are for 2009 Red River Reman. Obvious to anyone with a brain, it is not 3 years old or made by Red River. That and lack of a 17digit VIN is "confusing" IDOT.

    Trouble in Iowa with titles

Iowa 321 perhaps is an issue as well. http://www.iowadot.gov/mvd/omve/iac450.pdf 450.2(6) Glazing. a. Windshields. Every motor vehicle shall be equipped with a laminated safety glass windshield that complies with and bears the approval marking of the American National Standards...

    Trouble in Iowa with titles

Basically it will be a “Military Vehicle Certification of Compliance” form filled out by the applicant certifying the vehicle is in compliance with 49 C.F.R. Part 571 Federal Safety Standards and Iowa code 321 safety equipment. It should be a fairly easy process for most . Captain Mike Athey...

    Trouble in Iowa with titles

You got that right. The M925 I'm trying to title for my city is not complete yet. Apparently Iowa DOT is whining about safety stickers.

    Trouble in Iowa with titles

It appears that SF2112 (as amended) was passed by the Senate Apr 9 last week, and it addresses the issues regarding title of DOD surplus vehicles. So assuming Gov Branstad signs, problem solved.

    Trouble in Iowa with titles

If your're in Iowa contact your House Rep and Senator. Apparently HF 2313 is being re-drafted as an amendment to HF 2229 (veterans driver’s license bill) in the House. The DOT is fully supportive of doing this. Has to make it thru the House within the next couple weeks (session should end in mid...

    Trouble in Iowa with titles

I hope suggesting vote early, vote often, and vote even while dead is not "political".

    Trouble in Iowa with titles

HF2313 is somewhere in the capital to fix the problem but apparently is stalled. The Leg is winding up the session so QUICK action is required to move this bill this year (means a wait until Jan 2013).

    Trouble in Iowa with titles

I'll post more as I get it. Iowa DOT apparently is no longer is going to allow conversion of SF97 to Iowa title unless has a VIN and an FMVSS label (Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards). This can to me from our state forester's office. For my FD I work the DOD system for equipment from...
