Trying to get two m220's running after a long rest

We have a 2950 with the same loader. Our 4955 has an 850 loader that looks the same, but is thcker steel with slightly different pivots on the mounting towers. 4010's are awesome tractors that seem to really hold their value. At some point, one will decide that more severe efforts are...

Trying to get two m220's running after a long rest

I recognize that JD lift frame. ~~~ If you can find a bore scope to use, you might be able to do some internal looking. (After the field work is over)

I think you are doing fine and moving right along. With that many potentials to work with some things just have to go well.

Trying to get two m220's running after a long rest

I hate to admit how old I am, but my first encounter with that chemical was more than 50 years ago and it was a major componet of several upper cylinder cleaners. the prescribed use was to pour it in the fuel tank and drive the vehicle normally. However, my mechanic grandfather showed me how to...

Under item #2 consider that the clutch disks may be rusted to the flywheel. Somtimes you think you have the drive line "disconnected" from the engine, but it is not and attempts to turn the engine over are really attempts to move the entire vehicle. Under item #3 I find upper cylinder cleaner...

Trying to get two m220's running after a long rest

We were lucky with our M220 find. It was some 55 years with the U.S. Army at Yuma Proving Grounds and was reasonably intact with less than 10,000 actual miles.

Trying to get two m220's running after a long rest

That might be because from 1951 through 1953 GMC did not use a letter for a date code. If your truck was manufactured in 1953, but delivered to the Government in 1954 it would not have had a letter in the serial number. On the other hand, maybe GMC changed the way they did their Military...

Trying to get two m220's running after a long rest

There should be more to the serial number. On the passenger side frame horn (outside) forward of the front axle there should be some numbers about 3/4 of an inch tall . In the case of my M220, it took some sanding to find them under all the paint. The number should start "M220" followed by a...
