    Hmmwv rear wheel inside oil leak

    Fixed the leak by pulling the cover and resealing with Permatex "The Right Stuff". Turns out one of the bolt holes is stripped. Will helicoil at a later date as it's holding up so far. Thanks for all the help!!

    Thanks for the advice. This is the rear wheel but it's still a steering cap? So just unbolt, remove, clean and RTV? After a trip to Home Depo (20 miles) it leaks down the tire a bit.     Hmmwv rear wheel inside oil leak

    I have a 1989 HMMWV that the drivers side rear wheel is leaking oil. The leak is on the inside of the wheel seeping out of what I call the hat. It has 4 bolts holding it on. Can I simply loosen it, clean it and reseal?
