Progress! After meeting with my new local fabricator, my adapter project is finally moving forward. I expect it back in two weeks and then we can mount up my 18" Forever Sharp steering wheel shown in previous posts. I also found this on Pintrest in regards to spline sizing on steering shafts...

I did get a up close look at the steering wheel in the Acela 6X6 on display at OE. Airbag, buttons, etc.. There was a lot going on there! Pointman

I would imagine with raising the seats a higher steering wheel would be good for your back. I have a brief meeting with my fabricator. He will be giving me the rough 'draft' of the parts in the next week or so. Once finalized he will be making 10 complete adapters which will be for sale...

I don't recall seeing a cut out or cam cut into the bottom of the hub. I will look when I get my old steering wheel off and report back. One could adapt a timer to the current setup, but I kinda like the basic mechanical nature of the thing. Pointman

I am dropping my steering about 1", but hesitate going any lower due to interference with the blinker lever. Sup[posed to have it back before this Friday, so we will see... Pointman

So here is what the hub looks like stripped of the steering wheel.. My machinist friend is adding more material to bring the diameter out to match the new 18" steering wheel mounting bolt holes. Will have it back hopefully tomorrow..:naner: Pointman

I should have my adapter back from the machine shop this week and can share a photo. I'll be using a Forever Sharp 18" steering wheel with a soft feel rim. Anything will feel better that this 'bus' model that comes stock. Yes, I am in the camp with a spouse that wants less 'tank' and more...

I am nearly finished with my steering wheel upgrade. We are going with a Forever Sharp 18". I used a stock hub removed from a BTS stock steering wheel. The new adapter is being machined to mate up to the new steering wheel. I'll post up some pics when done. Pointman
