re-wiring my MEP-004a for different voltages, including single phase

It shouldn't engage the starter while running if all is good.

You may have a DC voltage issue. Popped breaker. Blown fuse, ect, etc.

And are you making any DC voltage? . Flashing the field is easy. Start the generator. Get it up to speed. Then turn the starter switch as like your starting the engine. If all is good you will see the frequency and the voltage peg then stabilize. If it drops off then you have another issue.

Did you try flashing the field ?

re-wiring my MEP-004a for different voltages, including single phase

Hi Jim it's not that it would hurt it the engine. It's that the air system the way it's routed thru that unit. You would be hard pressed to find a way to get in there to block it

Both sugestions kill my machine dead . So you have some trouble shooting to do.

You weren't running it in battle short were you ?

re-wiring my MEP-004a for different voltages, including single phase

Not impossible to do. But very hard on the mep-806a

Another way if that doesn't work is in front of the switch is the throttle control. Pull on the throttle it will Rev a bit and if you go about 100 to 200 rpm higher it should go into overspeed and shut off.

It's under the door next to the engine.

Try going to the left side and flip the manual crank switch to off or up it should kill it.

re-wiring my MEP-004a for different voltages, including single phase

Its pretty easy. Take a calculator . Add all your breakers up. OK you still with me ? now divide by 3 . and then divide your circuits' best you can to equal that number for each of the 3 panels. They don't need to be perfect. But do the best you can to divvy up the load.

re-wiring my MEP-004a for different voltages, including single phase

If it were me I'd brake it up your circuits in to 3 even loaded panels. Feed them from the power company the same way your doing now but parrelel your imputs.then ID back feed them when the power goes out then do the A to B. A to C , and B to C and run the gen 3 phase. To back feed I'd run it...

How many power panels do you need feed with single phase ?

re-wiring my MEP-004a for different voltages, including single phase

If it's only the heater you want to run you could use it either delta or wye . If your going to use it like me then go low voltage and use wye set up like I am.

re-wiring my MEP-004a for different voltages, including single phase

The 806 is a 10 wire head not a 12 so from what I have been told it can't be done. I have a 806 myself and I'm lucky enough to have 3 power panels with close to equal loads.so I run mine on 3 phase 208 and adjust the voltage up to close to 240. Then run phase A and B to panel 1. A and C to...

re-wiring my MEP-004a for different voltages, including single phase

I agree with you !! oddly enough page 2-19 of TM 9-6115-645-10 says on the MPE-806A can run single phase from either neutral to any 3 legs or leg to leg if I read it correctly.

re-wiring my MEP-004a for different voltages, including single phase

Please do and let us know. I have a mep-806a I plan to run single phase to 3 separate panels so first panel would be A to C 2nd B to C and 3rd A to B . The panels are pretty well balanced but the loads do very so I would be interested in your results.
