Wow! After reading the horror stories I sure am I had decided I would wait for a deal on an 803 or I may have ended up with one of the 802's. I'll really be gun shy now. For those who have got their hands on one ( those with the older sets) of the 80-'s what is your opinion. Are they inferior...

There not selling to me for that price for sure. I'll take my chances and gamble on GL first.

My 002 is about 120 ft from the house. When inside you almost can't hear it unless listening for it. Outside if you are 30 ft or so away from it is no issue carrying on a conversation. Like Ike said, the noise is over rated

Yep! Unless I would run across one heck of a deal on the 802, I may think about it otherwise I'm going to wait.

Doesn't sound like it's near as stout as an 002. I have had my house running with the 002 and the wife fired up the dryer not realizing that she should probably have done that. It grunted for a second and then kept chugging right along. I guess I'd really need to think about the 802 before...

How many of you have these units? How is it working for you? Compared to the 002 & 003? What would be a good price on one? I'm just exploring the idea right now.
