Yes, that's an M50 which is still supported by Ambac. I called them a few months ago and they said the PSU pump is not supported ( other than the parts that are common with the M50. Unfortunately the plunger, drive gear etc. are slightly different.
I ended up buying 2 M50 pump cores from a...
Thanks Guy, the last 2 docs are somewhat relevant in that it shows the old PSU pump and then superseded by the Ambac PN.
What's pretty funny is that the TM actually shows the old PSU pump in the exploded views, but I never even noticed because I've always used the Ambac docs. ( also attached in...
Thanks for the effort Guy. Looking at it quickly I would think I could probably convert the Bosch to Ambac by changing the plunger and the gear ( since the Bosch gear is missing the recess for the plunger guide ) and adding the plunger guide. There are also a couple other minor differences like...
Thank you Guy. on the pump itself it says American Bosch Type PSU 2/4-80E-9328A
Looking in the TM for part numbers, it only shows the plunger as being part of the entire hydraulic head assembly, Onan PN 147-0323
The drive pin looks to be available as part of kit 147-0306 but haven't been able to...
So, I learn something new every day! Today I went to work on my last 002a I have yet to finish and it has an injection pump problem.
The typical stuck plunger and stiff control lever etc. I took it out and disassembled it to find the plunger broken in half.
I pulled the pump off of a spare...
That's awesome! cool that you found the needle and even better that you're up and running! Nice that it's an ASK unit too. Now the bad news.... I really doubt you will be able to start that 5 hp motor. I've tried starting my 3 hp Sharp milling machine and even a 2 hp lathe with a 002A and the...
Jonathan, On second thought, if you are seeing the back end of the needle with the 1/16" hole in it, that is in the correct orientation.
Pointy end ( right hand side in your 2nd picture ) inward like a needle valve and the end with the hole and shoulder ( left hand side in your 2nd picture )...
Humm... Well lets start with the orange ring. That is the thin plastic delivery valve spacer. It will no longer be orange in your machine, but probably more of a brown color, or possible deteriorated and stuck to the metal housing inside. The item you have listed as unknown with the Red square...
Ah, now I see what is happening. You removed the center needle from the "2 Piece" delivery valve assembly.
The conical seat and 1/16" hole you are seeing is in fact where the needle seats. You still need to remove the outer piece of the delivery valve ( which may be stuck in place by the...
I'm still a bit confused when you say tiny hole in it. The conical shape you describe should be the end of the plunger, it's slightly rounded and about the diameter of a pencil, but there is no hole in it. Unless it's just a speck of something on it? You should be seeing just the recessed end...
Hi Jamaweib , Renuing.... I think there's a little confusion up above. Renuing, do you have the parts schematic for the pump? Under the big cap is the smaller cap that is a 5/8" 12 point nut. This is what is referred to as the delivery valve holder, #32 in diagram. Under that is #33 which is...
Hi Jonathan, the 2 most common issues with the IP are stuck plungers and broken plunger guides ( Dog bone )
If your plunger is sticking or isn't traveling its full length you won't enough fuel flow and if the plunger guide broke or skipped 90 degrees your timing will be way off. You also...
****... I was hoping to revisit Hawaii.... only been once back in high school, played in the marching band and did a ceremony at the Pearl Harbor Memorial back in like 1987.
Once you get them out, send me a PM and we can talk. Just pay the shipping costs( for the injectors... I'm too big for...
Sounds like it's time to pull the injectors out and have a look. If your machine isn't very rusty, they should come out pretty easily.
If you take the injector nozzle off you will probably find that the needle is stuck in the nozzle.
You can try cleaning the needles and nozzles to free them up...
I think you are fine as far as timing and Plunger guide. 1 tick away from the mark is not a problem. I believe another member here once did a timing button test to compare timing to power output and found no significant difference in power or performance until you get much further away from the...
Hey Renuing, Its hard to tell without seeing it myself, but don't expect to see a lot of fuel spraying out of the "Cracked" injector lines. The volume of fuel in each stroke of the pump is very small, so it normally just looks like a drip or small spurt coming from the loosened lines. It doesn't...
