    Yes, it does make a difference. I think that contributed to my poor fuel consumtion on my recent adventure north. BTW, I do know a guy that sells a lockout hub kit for a rear axle. Basically it has a single axle that's double splined and a lockout hub. Not as efficient as an interaxle disconnect...
