    Check valve for oil filters?

Bjorn, funny you mention that. I was down at Mikes shop yesterday and that very subject came up when looking ad a pump/filtering device he made up to filter used motor oil for fuel. I think the answer is yes but Mike can explain. I'm just dumb when it comes this.

    Check valve for oil filters?

Robert, you might just be on to something here. The only thing I would add is a pressure gauge before the filter. At least knowing the pressure with a clean filter would give you an idea of how the filter is doing when it gets dirty. Would hate to clog up the filter and dry out the IP. Other...

    Check valve for oil filters?

Ha, no scanner but a camera. This out of a book I just got from G744. Coming in handy already.

    Check valve for oil filters?

OK, guess you oil heads already figured this out but the bypass on the filters is rated at 15 psi. Same with the oil heat exchanger, it's a 15 psi bypass as well. This tells me that when the backpressure on the filters exceeds 15psi, the oil does exactly that, bypass the filters. Judging by the...

    Check valve for oil filters?

That oil cooler really serves more along the lines of an oil heater. I'm surmising that its purpose is to keep the oil and coolant at a somewhat like temp.

    Check valve for oil filters?

The 2 elements were over $40 ea. Bases were bypass and needed modified for full flow and the adapters were made by Mike on the lathe. I'd say 3 to 4 hun to get it up and going, then nearly a C note for a filter change.

    Check valve for oil filters?

I'm quite certain that he will be going to Aberdeen. FWIW, he had his filter setup on a diesel genset that had been running for many humdred hours. We looked at the oil and you could still see through it. It will be costly to put together but cheaper than engines.

    Check valve for oil filters?

Devilmans stuff is on the back burner right now with all the other stuff he's got cooking but once you see it, you will approve. I've never complained about the deuce filtration system until Mike brought up the point of all that crap being washed back into the pan when the filter housing drains...

    Check valve for oil filters?

RE: Re: RE: Check valve for oil filters? Great read Mike. I must admit, I never thought about the drain back and all the crud that it takes with it back into the pan. With that said, I'm sold on the remote mounts. Now I understand the military request for the cannister filters but don't place...

    Check valve for oil filters?

RE: Re: RE: Check valve for oil filters? Well Lee, not totally dry. There should be oil remaining on th bearings from the previous start and it's my humble opinion that less wear occurs at the starter cranking RPM of maybe 100 vs the engine idling away at 800 waiting to build up oil pressure...

    Check valve for oil filters?

RE: Re: RE: Check valve for oil filters? As DD suggests, I do a couple of 4 or 5 second cranks before I turn the fuel on. Cuts the no OP time from 13 seconds to 8 seconds. Dman has the adapters ready for remote spin ons for his truck. He's waiting until its done to do the tech article on it. I...
