Alas we must say goodbye to you Multifuel.

Well all the specs say the governed speed of the DT-466 series engines is 2600rpm. And blur-printing and balancing engine will improve the engine immeasurably in performance. Everything I want to do works but as you rightly pointed out costs cash, cash I don't have since my education is my...

Alas we must say goodbye to you Multifuel.

Well I think the mechanical is better for a couple or reasons: electrical systems being easier to adapt, less space required for the mounting of electronic hardware, simplicity. So my first choice is the DT466 210hp mechanical injected engines in the same year range you're talking about. I...

Alas we must say goodbye to you Multifuel.

I'm looking to top out about 65mph and cruise at 55mph so I actually want to put extra torsion bars on the rear tandems so I maintain as much contact with the road as possible. I knew they made a 7 spd at one point but I cannot seem to find any information on it. I think the DT466 is the...

Yeah I was thinking of Hamlet when I wrote the post.

Alas we must say goodbye to you Multifuel.

I think I'm going to go with the IH 466 and Fuller Six Speed Gearbox mated to a new locking transfer case. I want about 210-255hp and 560-660ft-lbs of torque with a top engine speed of 2600rpm. I know this means I might want to think about redoing the half-shafts in the axles too. I think I'll...

Alas we must say goodbye to you Multifuel.

I would like to change out the transfer case as well. I thinking about an older Oshkosh 55000 Model Transfer Case with either the Dorr-Miller Lock Up or the Bevel-Gear and Air-Lock up arrangement. This should handle the torque nicely, after all they use them on the P-Series trucks with engines...

No way... Where in Louisville you want to see the truck?

Alas we must say goodbye to you Multifuel.

The LDT is 1650lbs. Actually the engine is less I thought only 1680lbs so the C series should fit nicely...

Alas we must say goodbye to you Multifuel.

The 8.3l probably would fit in the compartment, but it probably would need way too much raditor to properly operate that it would be hard to keep cool. And the engine is about 2000lbs so you have to beef up the springs on the front as well.

Alas we must say goodbye to you Multifuel.

The V903 785cid series engine barely fits into the M123A1C as it is the hood is about the same size as the 5ton's hood. I don't think the engine will even fit into the M35 truck. Besides I'm not that keen on that engine it had a lot of head problems. I think I would rather have the 12V71 if I...

Alas we must say goodbye to you Multifuel.

Yeah the DT 466 is pretty much the diamond standard in medium duty engines. I think it would be an excellent choice and older non-electronic models are pretty cheap to purchase. I don't really want to give up my engine however, you can always use a spare. I think I'll just buy a junker...

Alas we must say goodbye to you Multifuel.

255hp should do a lot for the get up and go until the gears run out...

Alas we must say goodbye to you Multifuel.

I'm leaning towards the IH too, for cost and availability of parts. I hear that Cat is not going to make engines for trucks this year or something to that effect. I sort of want to stay in the 7L size range just so I can say I have 7.6 liters under the hood... If I could figure out how to put a...

Alas we must say goodbye to you Multifuel.

Is that an air to air or air to water type intercooler? I'm looking for an air to water type myself.

Alas we must say goodbye to you Multifuel.

    So the original Gear Box looks like this gear ratio wise. 1st 5.02 to 1.00 2nd 2.72 to 1.00 3rd 1.68 to 1.00 4th 1.00 to 1.00 5th .79 to 1.00 The new gearbox I want to put in it has the following gear ratios. 1st 7.05 to 1.00 2nd 4.13 to 1.00 3rd 2.59 to 1 .00 4th 1.59 to...

Alas we must say goodbye to you Multifuel.

I plan on putting an intercooler on any new engine I put into the truck. I was thinking of moving the air cleaner outside on the passenger side fender like M54.

Alas we must say goodbye to you Multifuel.

Sort of wanted the Electronic direct injection system myself. I'm thinking the same thing that international will be the cheaper engine in the long run.

Alas we must say goodbye to you Multifuel.

I think I want to swap out my Multifuel engine for a newer better Diesel engine. Right now the two contenders are the Cat C7 230hp model with 620ft-lbs of torque and the International DT-466 with 255Hp and 660ft-lbs of torque. Of course with this upgrade I will need to upgrade the transmission...
