Yup, 2wd 2500 350 700r4 Burban.
The 2wd ones are typically much cleaner up in my parts as the 4wd ones die a rather terrible death due to rust. This one according to the oil change and PBA stickers came from Washington/Oregon area. It is pretty mint underneath, back tailpan area is puff. It...
Mine was pretty chewed up electrically but I straightened it out with a pair of 555JHO alternators. I decided that I would rather buy a mint Suburban for the same money it would cost to fix the metal work on the M1010 so it was a no brainer. Plus the Suburban is way more practical to drive...
So after drooling over this build long enough, I decided to gut my ambulance for parts and go out and buy a Suburban. Mine even came with a wicked cool cowboy hat :)
Looks like you have some friendly competition, let the Dante's Peak military clone truck build begin...muhahahahahaha!!!
Anything marine will also work like Boatlife. Usually better rated for UV durability plus it will hold the rack in place without any bolts. I would almost go as far as sealing it from the inside as well under the headliner. After it sets up use a garden hose to test.
You lucky bastard!
It is a sweet ride so rock it! Can you post up when the movie comes out so we can look for it? I want to see some Cuck Vee zombie apocalypse action :)
Why wait when you can watch the Suburban go across the river...I love the internet :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8bQQIy5TKZE&list=PLEF6FC8B925024280
Looks awesome...makes me want to build one!
As far as the overheating or running hot goes, check to make sure your mechanical fan shroud is all there. Check to see if the mechanical clutch is working too when it heats up. A little bit of slippage will be bad with hot days and A/C heat load...
I'm sending you my left kidney...I will expect reasonable shipping on the truck with a signed title!!!
I officially dislike you and your build based solely on jealousy! Keep up the sweet build!
Getting closer to the Dante's Peak truck :)
No body lifts...or atleast keep it to under 1". These big floppy C channel frames do not mix well with a long wheel base body and tall body mounts.
As useless as that truck is, it's a pretty cool movie rig. Too bad the guy who owns it in Iowa doesn't have photos of it somewhere. I'm amazed that someone is building a replica of it. Lot's of old school 80's and 90's hardware on that truck like the Warn and Con-Ferr equipment. Vintage Baby!
I...
I dig this rig. Your faded red paint, stock steel wheels, and now brush guard remind me of the Suburban from the Dante's Peak movie. Although it was a gasser 1/2 ton and was pulled across the river, it was a cool movie truck.
I personally like the 91' K30 4x4...what is considered to be the unicorn of fourwheel drive Chevy trucks. 4L80E transmission mated to an NP205...yes please!
Never knew the 700R4 was an option on the 3/4 ton model. Always thought they got the TH400 until 91' when that was the only year for a 4L80E in the straight axle body style. Keep a build thread...that's a nice rig!
