    HEMTT Update

He could but I believe you'll fall over at the price. I don't remember exactly but it was north of $7,000. They are EXACTLY the same as the steel ones and a lot went into making them. Steel would have been less expensive but I didn't want the pockets to start rusting and there are always...

New toy for the HEMTT, a dummy 50 on the MK93 soft mount that Damon bought for the truck:

    HEMTT Update

I'd dearly love to have the MLRS pods for display but we are making due with the pods for the 2.75" rockets. At least this way we have room to haul our "stuff" too. Perhaps some day I'll have the proper trailer as well, I know they are out there for a reasonable price. Problem is I need to...

    HEMTT Update

Even with the bottom of 'em 18' in the air I don't think they'd bounce too high. If they were inflated with wheels they would be scary as sh*t. Still, I was ready to dive under the outriggers!

Darn thing is getting used a lot now Moving 10 new tires upstairs for dry storage. The wife did the hard part.

    HEMTT Update

HEMTT helps out a sleeping partner Boy that crane is nice, I'm done with the cherry pickers when doing maintenance on my Scorpion, just let the crane do all the heavy lifting. That engine cover is not only large and cumbersome but also quite heavy. Cover removal only took about 10 minutes and...

    HEMTT Update

One of our Steel Soldiers members bought it on eBay as a cannibalized mess, it was terrible and MUCH was missing. He spent 2.5 years and lots of money bringing it back from the dead. I bought it from him and we are just finishing it off. "Jones" above made all sorts of brackets and things for...

    HEMTT Update

Thanks Leonard, I had some 1/4" x 3" flat stock laying around and although I didn't follow the exact blueprint, I followed the intent. I doubled up the sides to look right, it didn't need the strength. The only real thing I had going for me is I ditched the 14" abrasive cutoff saw years ago...

    HEMTT Update

Thanks, we are making every attempt to make it the best truck we can. Still a lot to do . . .

    HEMTT Update

You're not supposed to see that, it was my pre-wife/family toy that I haven't gotten rid of yet. I has to go away to help pay for restorations of all the rest, survival of the fittest you know ;) I'd sacrifice anything for my Scorpion and HEMTT, the same way my wife feels about her Fox...

    HEMTT Update

Thanks to Leonard Jones (Jones), owner of the awesome Baby HEMTT, I'm finishing the outrigger pads. Leonard machined some 5" round stock with an internal taper to accept the ball on the end of the hyd. cylinder rod. I just had to weld them to the pads and make some brackets to accept some 1/2"...

    HEMTT Update

Correct Hammer, I got 'em because I could. My source has told me that since the military is going to civilian contractors for tires in the near future, we won't be seeing cheap tires soon. He is putting in for 9 more for me that he'll keep for me in case I want them. At $250.00 ea. shrink...

YEAH, new shoes today! 9 new, never on the ground Michelin XZL 16.00 tires. Now I just have to figure out where to store 4000 lb. of tires . . .

    HEMTT Update

I'm not in your league Leonard, at least not yet. Since they are all made out 1/8 aluminum, I don't think they will be protecting anything. Honestly they are just for looks and to keep the kids from falling out. I was a bad boy yesterday, I forgot to tighten the lock nut on my heavy duty...

    HEMTT Update

We thought about that but decided that they take up too much darn room. We still need the truck to haul our camping stuff for the larger events.

Thanks, now I just need the pods and a Cobra gunship to finish the display . . . I wish!

    HEMTT Update

Accessorizing Got some accessories to display with the HEMTT: 2-12 tube 2.75" rocket transport racks. Each tube holds 4 and so I have one full tube, all I need for display. Just the kind of cargo this truck was meant to haul. Even the same year of manufacture as the truck. For shows we'll...

    HEMTT Update

That's exactly what we were thinking, having the bed sides follow the lines of the cab and engine doghouse made sense. The stockers were high shin height to perhaps knee, the only thing that looks goofy is now the crane is below the bed sides and looks a little crooked. You can't have...

    HEMTT Update

Thanks guys! I can't tell you what a fine job they did re-creating the sides, they are an exact copy of the original ones, but now the same height as the cab (9" taller than stock) and weigh only 46 lbs being made entirely out of 1/8" aluminum.
