Always nice to leave winter when you've had enough of it. Too bad your truck doesn't get to play in the snow though! It can be a lot of fun (the salt's not fun though).

I think those are great hot water (radiator) cab heaters. Where you live, however, I'm surprised you don't have one of the fuel fired heaters. I hear that Wisconsin gets a little chilly in the winter, and that winter lasts a looooong time.

That truck looks to be good shape after sitting under the trees for almost 30 years! Looks like a nice truck to start a restoration on.
Good luck with your project, and post pictures as you make progress!
Storm 51
Looks like an Ex-Marine Corps truck from the paper clips on the front bumper. Also looks like a lot of the details (tail lights, shackles, etc) are still on the truck.
Good Luck and have fun restoring it as much or as little as you want.

Nice stuff, rosims!
Thanks for all the pics and the leads on the seat pads and junction box!
Yes, I do remember those days. Never bought much of the stuff because there was so much of it and I figured it would always be there. Huge mistake. I now pay dearly for what I used to just walk by...
Wow! Nice job, rosims! Very nice set up.
A few questions for you if you don't mind.
Where did you get the 1/2 seat pads for the benches? Also, is there any attachments for the table to fit on the tailgate when the tailgate is in the horizontal position (the adjustable table legs would be...
There are a couple of articles in PS Magazine about the lube fittings and "red circles" around them back in the day. I deduced from reading the articles (or "Ask to Connie") that they were a hold over from WW II. They were apparently discontinued some time in the mid 1960's (I think).
I still...
That is a beautiful truck, rosims (post #127)! The M-42 is my favorite version of the M-37 series. You've done a wonderful job restoring that truck!
I didn't think Louisiana had any solid ground.
Storm 51
That is part of the Arctic kit for the M-37. It is quite a kit, too. It has an insulated floor and that top is quilted and insulated. There is a solid, wooden, insulated full length door for the rear of the bed with solid walls on each side of the door (I've got a picture of the rear of the...
Sorry majorhitt, that is 3dAngus's garage, not mine. However, I certainly wouldn't mind having some of the toys in that garage (I'd need the garage too, so I would have a place to store them). :D
Even the M-37's and M-43's I saw when I was in the Army back in the late '60's all had 2 mirrors...
Thanks, 3dAngus! All those brackets are just stock M-37 parts. On the right side of the truck there is a bracket mounted beneath the mirror brackets (against the skin of the truck) for the installation of the fording kit air intake pipe. However, this long piece of vertical channel does not...
Mirror Brackets
Here's some photos of my mirror brackets (right and left).
My mirrors are not hit by the doors on either side with the windows rolled up when the doors are opened.
Hope the pictures help. If you would like more, just tell me what you would like to see.
Storm 51
Thank you so much, 3dAngus! That helps immensely! Those are exactly what I was looking for. It is a rather simple attachment, but is nice to see how it was actually done and be able to know that it will accommodate the USMC lifting bracket .
The wiring modification shown in the first photo is a...
My USMC lifting brackets are exactly the same as yours, down to the detail of only having 1 lifting shackle.
Why is one shackle always missing on these bracket sets? aua
Oh well, another part to add to the search list!
Storm 51
Thanks for trying to take the pictures, 3dAngus! I really appreciate it. Sorry it got confusing and wasted your time.
The black out lights are from the old, old days when you didn't want to be seen from the air on night movements. The little triangles in the red part of the light were "distance...
Thanks for the link, Carter! I should be able to build a bracket from one of those photos (unless you know of where one might be for sale?). My trailer has one on the right rear, but that bracket will not work on the M-37. On the M-37 I have to mount the light outboard of the right tail light...
