I have the second gen heads that go in the cab. They are a bit larger than the stock heater box and I believe you have to run a 12v power lead to it also.
12 volt can be tapped under the power panel, you can switch a relay by tapping into most switched circuits to run the relay coil. If you need constant power in the engine bay 12 and 24 can be grabbed at the power block under the spare tire. Nothing is fused so they should add the appropriate...
I'm not really an AC guy I don't mind the heat. But I may do AC in my 1088A1. The large trans cooler passenger side behind the cab would probably work well with a big condenser sistered up to it and I could just switch on the existing fans.
Alot of civ kits on the market have add on pulleys its just a matter of finding the right match. The member with the van truck with original ac may be able to measure the pulley diameter on his. The bolt pattern should be common to all 3116/3126 motors.
Where? I don't see a defrost control. I see a slot on the back. The controls show outside air or recirculate. That has to be the outside air intake though. Maybe you can aim the vents toward the windshield.
I saw those heater/AC boxes I was going to bid on some but they didn't appear to have defrost on them and with 4 seasons in CT I use the defrost on a regular basis. They appear to have a fresh air intake and recirculate. Makes sense if they were designed for an armored vehicle that the windows...
In the 6x6 cargo truck the trans cooler is mounted under the bed with fans. Basically the same thing mounted sideways behind the cab on a tractor. The AC condenser might be able to fit under there. Nice out of the way place.
The TV050009 bracket, second 2 pics, may be that but I am not sure. There does not appear to be enough room for it on the passenger side. I do have a bunch of new AC compressors Sanden 4066 SD7 and Transair TM21's both were MRAP I believe. They have serpentine belt pulleys though.
