When trucks were rolling thru in quantity you could get a decent condition and running m923a2 for around 3500 plus fees. Then the stoppage happened and prices jumped way up. Give it 6 months of steady trucks all the resellers will be stocked up and there will be much less demand. The gov wants...
Driving a mv on base for a specific purpose after showing proper documentation and receiving clearance is significantly different than having a friend drop you off at the GL lot and driving away with your new truck.
The military is blind to it then. If they knew civilians were driving around a mil base in an unregistered military truck they would not be happy about it. It's an unbelievable security issue especially with everything going on today.
The military is not fond of civilians going on base especially driving around one in a military truck. Ironplanet has to have sites where the commercial equipment is stored for auction.
Every other auction site selling gov an municipal surplus have low starting bid prices. There are a few private party sale or corporate items here and there that have reserve prices. There has to be some price structure requirement in the gov contract to sell the stuff. The ultimate object of...
They do well with the equipment auctions they currently run. If you haven't gone to the ironplanet site there is a wide variety of stuff in several countries. I think bidders will adapt to the buying environment and things will normalize after a few months of auctions. As there is more publicity...
I believe items can be offered for free to other gov agencies police fire etc. Anything other than "national security" wise has to be public auctioned to the highest bidder. I would think even armored vehicles would need to be auctioned for scrap destruction like the big humvee lots. There are...
I cannot believe doing that would be legal under the gov contract. Years ago friends of gov employees or lawmakers would end up with sweetheart deals. Basically great stuff for next to nothing. Taxpayers and other bidders got fed up and laws were created regulating how surplus property could be...
I bought some stuff from ironplanet in the spring the items were just as described the process was easy no trouble with using my CT tax id number in NJ. GL will not let me use my tax number with them in NJ.
I thought there were laws in place to prevent such a situation. So no one gets the golden deal. Everything has to be public auctioned to the highest bidder per gov contract specs. I could see ironplanet linking the gov auctions for construction type equipment to the search in their civilian...
Unless the price is worded into the fed statute describing the issue of sf-97 forms then the gov probably does not get paid for the forms. Whatever fee GL gets it keeps. I dont see them making enough money charging 60 bucks a form to really make any profit after paying employees and overhead to...
I have seen on the sf-97 and supporting docs what GL gives the gov and it's not much. A 5 ton cargo cuts the gov around 70k. If I paid 4000 the gov got a few hundred.
Iron Planet offers their "Ironclad assurance" on certain items. They stand behind their inspection/evaluation of the items. Other items are sold as-is. I dont think they would offer anything on the gov surplus. I had to pay via bank wire when I purchased thru them they did not have a credit card...
The gov contract may require them to run the gov auctions differently though. I have to believe everything is pretty much spelled out in the contract. Only time will tell.
No I have won auctions at the 25 dollars starting bid. Plus fees of course. Most of the auction sites that sell municipal and gov property have low starting bids.
I always wondered if the 25 dollar start price was part of the gov contract. I have bought from Iron Planet before they usually start stuff at a reasonable price but not giving anything away.
