Theres always another week. If it were me I would wait a month or two anyways. Prices have been high lately.

Prices change weekly depending on supply and who is bidding.

The 5th wheel assembly is a few hundred pounds. If you strip off the decking and ladder maybe you can get it down 700lbs or so.

1078 has the bed which is pretty heavy. 1088 has the extra axle longer frame 5th wheel but no bed.

4567 comes back to the 2.5ton truck. It's an old nsn replaced with 2520-01-519-2772.

If you throw enough money at anything it can usually be done. I personally prefer the less expensive route though. I do think a camper body could be installed on any of the cargo or tractor lmtv trucks relatively easily though. As long as you are not playing musical axles in the process that is.

There is a thread somewhere I had posted a pic of a M1088 after the 5th wheel was removed.

I hacked up two M1088s for parts. Better than parting a M1078, gotta get parts somewhere.

Its all wheel drive 30 front 70 percent rear. Both rears are linked via driveshaft same as m939 trucks. Mode on the trans control will give you 50 50 and lock the center diff forcing both driveshafts to turn at the same speed.

Tran cooler. The 5ton cargo has it under the bed.

    Making a 4x4 from a 6x6 ?

The center axle has a offset geared input and output. I don't see any point in bobbing a 6x6 truck when the 4x4 version is widely available. There is a lot more air brake stuff going on in the lmtv compared to the m939 trucks. The 4x4 trucks have pretty clear lower frame rails of you wanted to...
