    If there is fluid in the trans and the pump is good you can tow with all 4 wheels on the ground. The pump is coupled to the transfer case drive.

    In the trans pic. Maybe if all the black bolts are broken off it would cause the symptoms. Prob easier to pull the engine forward than the trans back.

    If the truck starts then the torque converter module is bolted up. I don’t think it’s a matter of broken bolts somewhere. Something inside the converter assembly itself is damaged.

    If you can start the truck then the trans is connected to the engine. Did you check the fluid level?
