RE: gone Well, I am happy to say the M38 just was sold and will reside in dry area somewhere in Ohio! I told the new owner to join and bring it the Findlay show next May. Now I am on to the hmmwv A2 project. For those of you want to sell a mv, I recommend using David Uhrig in Ohio. World...

What a great day to honor our vets! Perfect in every way here in Eaton Rapids, MI. Starting with 2-A10 fly overs and our longest Memorial Day parade! :) Well the M38 ran but carb issues made me decide to flat tow it behind my hmmwv. I did not want the M38 to stop the progression of the...

As far as before, the poor M38 was complete dissasembled so the only pictures I have is the following...It was a bucket of parts that took at least 2 full days to separate the cive from the military components....Thanks for your kind words!

Well, after going to Findlay and buying a few small parts, the M38 is dang near done. I have only a few more evenings available to get it debugged so she can do the parade. Question...she starts but wants to run with the choke pulled out about 1/3 the way (the choke cable is adjusted...

Well, another busy Friday pm, Saturday and only a couple hours on Sunday (honey-do-list  ) and the M38 is starting to look like, well, an M38! :D I finally sat in it! I have to finish the engine compartment on vent lines, wipers, fill with water, install batteries, fresh gasoline. If...

Well it has been a busy week. Everything that bolts on this M38 is now OD! :) I have started to populate the dash, install wire harness and the instrument cluster is done (just need to place it when tub is on frame). If all goes well this weekend, the tub should be reunited with the lonely...

Thanks everyone...again! Lane, once this one is done it will either reside in my barn or be put up for sale...have not decided. The fall trail ride is a go for me and my humvee! CGarbee, in my previous restorations I made a lot of different hat channels and then when I get an mv that needs...

    M38 Project...Done...

Well I went and did it! I painted it 2 coats of OD (1.5 gallons)! Holy cow there is a lot of little parts to paint on M38's...Now I just have to wait for the paint to dry enough for assembly. Should be looking like a flat fender again soon. Only things left to paint is the windsheild frame...

Thanks for the kind words. The previous, previous owner bondo'd over those welds for the reinforcement patches. In fact, I removed a lot of the bondo that they applied for no reason at all (unless they wanted to civilianized it), such as the spot weld dimples. Once painted I post more picts...

CGarbee, If you get panels from John, you will not be disappointed! I have made panels for 3/4 WC CC's since no one else made them so it is nice to have a panel that slides right in! Clinto, First, I remove almost everything that is bolted down and clean. For this M38 I rebuilt the axels...

Hi Everyone, I just replaced my M38 driver's side floor which I obtained from Midwest Military. It fit like a glove and only took 3 hours from removal of old and setting in of new. Then welding took another hour or so. I highly recommend their floor and for the price, you cannot replicate...

Hi Everyone, I set the engine/transmission/trasfercase/drive shafts and radiator. Rebuilt carb, fuel pump, and complete ignition system. Then I fired her up with fresh gasoline! It sure is fun to bring one back to life! To top it off, it was a nice Sunday here in Mid-Michigan so I fired up...

Well, inbetween working and playing with this M38, I finally have gotten around to getting the running gear primed and painted. This is a nice frame with zero rust! Both axels have been reworked as well as the tranny and transfercase. Replace head gasket, rebuilt carb, new rear exhaust stud...

Hi Chuck, your rants (advice) are definately NOT wasted! I stumbled into these M38's and I had to do it! It is the only army jeep style I have not restored...once this is done, then the search continues for a 5 tonner! The red M38 is not a fixer upper...it is a parts rig. My care package...

Thanks for the replys. This is a fun project! CGarbee, I sent you pics of my R2 crash truck...did you get them? If not pm me. Regarding this M38...look at the front brake plates...M38A1's (still a Dana 25). Those have to get replaced plus the thrust block in rear differential and of course...

I will try to post a few times a month on the progress. Once I got the M38 home, I stopped by a friends place and picked up his wrecked and quite rusted M38 for a donor vehicle (I traded a M series engine generator and M series single pin jumper cables with caps and 2 pin adapters...good...
