    Laundry list for the m1009

Sure the 350 will work, but the 6.2 is it’s soul.

I know the location matters. You missed the point. Even at $1k, it would still be cheaper than making a big block fit and swapping rear ends.

I know it’s frustrating to keep chasing issues. Been there when I first got mine. Once you get everything worked out and correct, you will be happy with the results. Hang in there! Sure more power with a gas engine would be nice, but the sound of the 6.2 Diesel is wonderful. To me at least.

    Laundry list for the m1009

I paid less than $500 for two, running at takeout, complete 6.2Ls in Military engine shipping containers. Sold one that more than paid for both. Had someone offer to sell another one for $600 by someone who stopped to talk about CUCVs when leaving a restaurant. Point is, unless you want the...

If you put in an engine like that, also plan on replacing the rear end to at least a 12 bolt or similar.

Buy the Snap-On Injector socket if you can find it. I bought a brand new one on eBay. Works perfect and will not damage threads, etc.

How does one start a CUCV quietly?

If you don’t drive it often, I would keep tank topped off. A full tank will have almost zero condensation buildup. The more airspace in tank, the more water buildup. SeaFoam also removes water from fuel system.

I also add a quart of 2-cycle engine oil when I fill tank. It keeps things lubed and happy. Engine isn’t as loud and fuel mileage is better. It will enhance the life of injection pump and injectors. Some guys use transmission fluid (which has friction modifiers), but the two-cycle oil is...

Just add one can directly into tank. Two will not hurt it. When you refuel next, add another can. Then a can about every other tank or so. Everyone has their own preference for fuel additives, but I’ve had excellent results from using SeaFoam. It simply works. I use it in everything I own...

A can or two of seafoam will help a LOT. Cleans dirty injectors and keeps system happy. The eBay covers are surplus originals I paid $100 shipped for the reproduction. Its very well made.

Get the Military reproduction grill cover. It works great and is easy to put on and take off as the temps change. I can’t remember the name of the company that makes them, but someone will chime in with it I bet.

Add a can of SeaFoam to the tank to keep fuel system happy. Also a Grill cover will help keep temps up.
