M1010 for my daughter the field biologist

I like that crimper. What is it?

I haven't had to pull my starter, but it may be one of those situations were it's easier to drop the starter to take the wires off.

350 or similar crate (or junkyard) motor. Lighter and more fuel efficient than a big block and nearly twice the HP of the 6.2. Or just tough it out with the 6.2....

This is why your daughter would be better off with a new Toyota or similar newer truck. You have had several things break that she probably would not be able to fix in the middle of no where. Even if you don't consider her personal safety, it would be difficult to get this truck fixed in a...

Ha, Ha, with .456 gears (I have a M1028A2) it's wound pretty tight at 55 mph so it sounds like you are racing. You just aren't going anywhere very fast!

OD, I figured taking your foot off the gas or partially lifting when down shifting was a no-brainer. Maybe some need concise directions. So.... Don't down shift with your foot (and gas peddle) on the floor unless you are racing!

I down shift manually when necessary since the throttle vacuum modulator valve on my truck is bypassed. With .456 gears I don't have to do it often.

Remove the nylon screw from the alternator with the Transpo regulator. I'm pretty sure that regulator is adjustable.

I had similar rust issues under the floor mat of my M1028A2. I just removed the mat and as much rust as I could by scraping, needle scaling and wire brushing. Then I used Ospho to treat the rust. After washing off the powder residue from the Ospho, I used red oxide primer over that. I have...

Looks like your route takes you down I-80. Set a couple of hours aside to visit the Heartland Museum of Military Vehicles in Lexington, Nebraska. Exit 237 off I-80. I've been there twice, they have a lot of interesting military equipment and vehicles. Have a good trip.

I would get the highest load rating you can afford or in this case, easily handle weight wise. You will almost always need more winch than you have and will probably need a doubler anyway. I don't know about sand, but in mud, the load from the suction and the weight of the material you are...

I would want my daughters in a modern, newer SUV that is more RELIABLE than your typical 30 year old Chevrolet, or other old MV. You can put better tires on it and a winch and show her how to use it. A little instruction on off road driving will keep her out of trouble so she knows where she...
