Hi Guys and Gals,
Well the beast is in need of some repair. Trying to recover my buried to the frame Campulance in mud with 150 of combined straps and Bow shackles. Well one of the 20,000 lbs rated straps broke and sent a bow shackle clean through my left rear door. The door was caved in and...
Ive been to the junk yard several times trying to find the TV Bracket for someone. So far I have not found a one. I will keep looking. If I find two I will let you know.
Actually the 700R4 has a lower first gear (lower than the 4l80E) and I must say it has greatly improved the in city driving. You are correct about the Overdrive issue without a turbo. It definitely needs a turbo. Step Two.
The simplest and cheapest way to go is with a built 700R4. The 4L80E will also require drive shaft mods which are not cheap. Just another added cost. I will look locally for a TV bracket for you.
I have had my Campulance back now for almost two weeks. I live at approx 6500 feet. Thats pretty high for a non turbo diesel. I took it on a trip to Overland Expo up and down some serious grades. On that trip I averaged 10.85 MPG. I was able to sustain speeds of 75 except on steep grades...
I held the 1998 drivers side plate over the Old NP208 plate and clocked it to the correct angle. I then used a sharpie drew out where I wanted to cut both plates. I then cut out each plate and added the new piece to the old NP208 shift cam. Welded her up and its done.
I went to the junk yard but could not find a 1988/1989 passenger side drop NP241 Cam shift plate. I found a million drivers side NP241 drop plates which have the mirror image of what I need. Those plates are not identical but are the same thickness. I took one off of a 1998 chevy 2500 with...
My new replacement NP241 will be here Friday the 10th. I won't be working on the A/C now for 2 to 3 weeks. I have a few events I need to be at and just won't have the time now for my rig be down. On that note though I have picked up the new vents and dash vent cover to transform her into an...
Well they are sending another NP241 to my Trans shop. No hassles. Would have been great if it worked the first time around though. Oh well move on because S.H.I.T. just happens sometimes.
.
Well the cable from Summit Racing was not the correct length. Not sure if the factory stuck the wrong cable in that package or what. The trans shop ordered the same part number above (25515599) and it was 36.1". Worked perfectly.
Everything was finished this morning at the trans shop...
Today I ordered a newly rebuilt NP241. $1300 and some change delivered. I figured I might as well go all new as my M1010 only has 5,300 plus miles on her right now. I also painted the W 700R4 Crossmember. Looking at the W crossmember it looks like I will lose some ground clearance unless...
Today I went to the local Junk Yard and found the very elusive TV cable bracket. I found it in the very last vehicle that possibly could have had it! I also found a suburban that was 4 wheel drive 1/2 ton model that use to have a 700R4. Well the Trans, Tcase and steering column were missing...
