ECO Hubs Who needs 3:07 gears?

Let us know how it works out. Lots of trucks with 3:07 running eco hubs. I would bet you might not be in O.D. At 60 mph. But that’s ok.

ECO Hubs Who needs 3:07 gears?

Yes they require the split lock. The split lock still locks the axle nut as before. The Delta lock goes between the shims and the split lock. So you have axle nut, shims, Delta lock, split collar in that order. Xtra locking for those that want a more redundant system.

ECO Hubs Who needs 3:07 gears?

The spring would need to push against something, in this case it would be the outer hub or bolt adapter. The Delta lock is stationary and the other two pieces are turning. Not the best combination. The split collars work and work well. The amount of push or turning force that the axle nut...

ECO Hubs Who needs 3:07 gears?

I didn’t say the spacers were a feel good solution. The problem I see with spacers is that the distance between the wheel nut and the bolt adapter changes from truck to truck. Yes you can shim the inner gear to make it work. I don’t see that as a simpler solution or reducing insulation...

ECO Hubs Who needs 3:07 gears?

Spacers are not going to be available on Eco Hubs, the split collars that are current production are 1/2” thick and use a larger pinch bolt. What is in the works is what I’m calling ”Delta Locks”. They engage the fixed splines on the axle tube and the pins on the axle nut. The lock is held...

ECO Hubs Who needs 3:07 gears?

Hi Matthew, The thicker lock rings are available no problem. All the new sets ship with the thicker ones now. I haven’t had any problems with the thin ones. Other than a few being stripped out when installing the Allen screw. I also have a new lock plate in the works now to provide a...

ECO Hubs Who needs 3:07 gears?

That’s the reason all split collars are shipped with the Allen’s installed. To make sure there isn’t a problem with the threads. The false start is a problem. I will gladly send you another split lock. When the new lock rings are available, this problem should be gone. ( Bigger allen and...

ECO Hubs Who needs 3:07 gears?

I don’t like that fix, I will be glad to send you another lock ring. The problem with the threads is that they are formed threads not cut. That makes them stronger and tighter more consistent. However they have a false start sometimes. If you engage the false start and continue it will...

ECO Hubs Who needs 3:07 gears?

I would think all you would need to do to make the pac break more effective is to increase RPM. Like downshift, 2000 rpm with Eco hubs is the same as 2000 rpm with reduction. For the same road speed you will be in a different transmission gear. Flaps up or down ??

ECO Hubs Who needs 3:07 gears?

I don’t think Eco Hubs have any effect on the pack break at all. It’s the RPM the engine is operating at when the pack break is applied/used. More RPM more breaking power. Down shift the transmission to increase breaking effectiveness. Am I missing something?

ECO Hubs Who needs 3:07 gears?

I have personally reported 11.03 in my first tests 2001 m1078 274 hp tune at that time. Some have reported 12 mpg. not to bad for the size and weight of these trucks

ECO Hubs Who needs 3:07 gears?

I have had customers try stump pulling. (I don’t recommend that !). In first gear traction seems to be the week link so far??

ECO Hubs Who needs 3:07 gears?

The splined hubs are 4140 billet then machined then heat treated and tempered to. R54/56 then the splines are cut with a wire EDM to a tolerance of 20 to 30% tighter than stock .
